Playa conditions for 2009?

I don't think there's anything wrong with wanting to know how the Playa is shaping up for this year. I can feel the hum of excitement growing every day we get closer to getting Home.

We all know that the unpredictability of BM is what makes it so special, but hey, let's face it, a hard crust is a good thing because it allows us more freedom to move around.

Bluewing Mountain Station, Empire, Nv. is currently reporting 100 percent humidity and 0.59 in. precipitation. Next 4 days show 30 percent chance of rain with scattered thunderstorms and showers.

There's flash flood watches all over northern Nevada, including the Gerlach area and chance of T storms all week. We just had about 1/2 inch of marble size hail about 2 hours ago.

Fox trot said the playa is long and hard this year.. Lets just hope people stay off the trans playa highway.

I work for the highway department in Reno so I just heard about it. Some from another Reno crew are being loaned to the Nixon crew to haul grindings to the washout and debris out. Maybe I'll get my chance to work out there tomorow.

I know there are people who find it amusing to make phony posts about the current conditions of the Playa, but quite a few of us are genuinely interested in finding out what it's like out there at the moment.

It makes it hard when there's all these supposedly fake posts going on.

C'mon people. Be nice to the rest of us who are getting excited at the prospect of actually being able to ride our bikes this year..

btw: you can ride your bike every year at burningman

AND

the playa was once a big lake, no reason it can't be again. The only reason it's dry is because of global warming..
