BM Addiction

Post by dustforlife » Thu May 28, 2009 3:04 pm

Does anyone else out there think about Burningman every day? I am obsessed with it…not complaining, mind you, but definitely wondering if there is something wrong with me? So many things in my everyday life I recognize as “coolâ€

 Oh, and I thought BM stood for Bowel Movement...

Well, I'm working as a janitor, so I am reminded of Burning Man all the time, whether I want to be or not, as well as a lot of other things.

Anyway, it is only a problem if it is interfering with your life, or something like that.

I got my wedding ring at BM, so every time I put it on I think about Burning Man.

Really; sometimes knowing, planning, thinking about and working on Burning Man related projects is the only thing that keeps me almost sane.

Why, I havent thought of the Bionic Man in years. Frankly, with him being married to Farrah Fawcet, I could see how you would obsess over him though.
Excuse me Ma'am, your going to feel a small prick.

This will be my first year at Burning Man and even though I haven't been yet, I'm completely consumed by my planning. I find myself making endless to do lists, shopping lists, reading eplaya and the rest of the site etc. I'm completely OCD about the whole thing. Counting the days.......

Hey, no "touching your ticket" in public! That sort of thing might be fine on the playa, but it could get you arrested in the default world! I hope you are at least being discreet about it.

Thats 97 days until the BURN - 90 days until the festivities begin.

Be careful you can wear out a ticket rubbing it!!!

I imagined this thread going like "High my names John, and i am addicted to Burningman"

I was back on the playa last weekend for the Black Rock Rendezvous and was surprised by the absence of my former obsession with it. I loved being there and taking it all in with friends, I just feel like it's now a part of me so I don't have to reach out and touch it, just reach in.

Many of my dreams take place "on the playa" as my subconscious mind accepts it as a field of unlimited potential so that's the stage it likes to perform on.

Put some techno on the stereo, turn all the lights off, close your eyes, turn the music up louder then you like it, put your arms over your head and start waving your hands, jump up and down, jump up and down more, wave them arms and hands.. Yell, "I LOVE BURNING MAN".

repeat.

first turn on every fan in your house, close the windows, and then empty the vacuum cleaner bag into the air...

then turn on the techno until your ears bleed.

eat only dried food for a week, and wash it down with red bull and vodka

top off by snorting something from your medicine cabinet, but dont look to see what it is...

fuck SOMETHING with a hole.

lather, rinse, repeat.

I feel like I'm in good company....I think?

I got my ticket yesterday, for my birthday. I told the kids they have to eat noodles for the rest of the month. They said, "Mom must be going to Burning Man again!"

Won't do you much good-- I desperately need to go grocery shopping!

Although, I suppose, if I took the shelves out people could squeeze inside for a quick cool down... Hmm, get a trailer? Strap it to the roof of whoever's vehicle we take?

You just might actually be on the playa!
We are having the 7th wettest June (that made me giggle) on record and it's only the 10th  It might still be a lake by Labor Day.

It's my first year too as an actual attending, ticket purchasing, participant. I'm obsessed. I buy a box of Otter Pops every time I see them. I think we are up to 300 now. I think that will be enough! I'm still planning our menu for the week! It has to consist of something besides Otter Pops! Oh and huge jars of Vlasic pickles are only $3.50 at Costco. In case anyone is interested.
