seeking 4th soul to join in a 3 month US road trip to )'(

Post by Free2B » Thu Apr 16, 2009 4:23 pm

Hi world! It's me, Anastasia... I posted before with no plans but to hitchhike my way, asking for suggestions... and then there was Kim, who re-routed her school savings towards this trip in about 2 stops on the train to a bar... & I agreed to move somewhere warm once we're technically "back"... at least we were sober... now we're selling our crap & putting pins on the map!!! Trisha, my original travel buddy, is currently traveling in South America... she'll say hi eventually.. after my first Burning Man last year, I wanted more of the journey, started slowly re-arranging my 9-5, pet-owner sircumstances into a shape that won't require me to feel pinned... and allow me to GO... Trisha responded to a post... we were just gonna hitch... then thought of buying a used car... but Kim's using hers, which leaves us space for one more!

So, three months! We're leaving last week of July or the 1st of August... Kim's from Pennsylvania, I'm in NY & Trisha's in Wisconsin... the 3 of us are staying with Stag Camp, you dont have to... after burning man we'll roam our way back for two months... plans are in the making. Wish there were more camping festivals on the way, but they apparently go till July.. maybe next year... we'll have fun no matter where we go, we've got a bunch of hosts already, including some eplayans... if they'll take 4 of us... :D! 3 of us met on couchsurfing.com, cultural exchange-travel community, once we get the main route down we'll find couches along our stops... definitely doing some camping in national parks... yes, we need a 4th for all this! Where are you???

The mutual expenses will be split exactly 4 ways. For the trip the car is not Kim's car, it's OUR car, if something happens.. it happens to all of us & we chip in. I'll call the buddies over to this site... virgins!... send a message if interested!

Hey Free2Be. It looks like you might pass through or close to Michigan on your travels. If you do, feel free to make contact. There's plenty of room here for burners to crash for a day or two, shower, what have you. We will also ply you with Bell's beer, a local staple.

Sounds like an awesome experience.

Please, please, please invest a little into some of these for your travels.

We never begin a journey expecting trouble, but it sometimes has a nasty way of showing up sometimes.

I carry this brand in a professional capacity and it works and it is much easier to deploy than the traditional canister style OC spray.

If you are bringing a bat, you need to have a glove and a ball too. Otherwise, you can get busted on a bullshit weapons charge. "No really officer we're driving to Nevada to play a little ball."

Cool.

If I may ask, what brand of pepperspray and what kind of taser? Is it the actual shot the prongs out zap 'em kind of taser or is it one of the handheld "buzzzzzzit" kind with the pretty blue light.

Edit: I only ask because I am a certified pepperspray instructor for 3 different brands and there is a pretty big difference between brands.

Yep. Carry the accouterments of the game in addition to the bat.

I don't find on that site, the 3 point attachment with adjustable belt option..........

don't tell me you use your hands to operate that at home?

how do you drink PBR and interview Canadians? you need one hand to hold their belt loops.

The brand I linked above is the easiest system to utilize and carry. The canister holder is not much bigger than a key fob.

hmm... they weren't my idea... I just wanted the bat... good point on the ball.. might as well get a bigger hammer, I already got the tent... the taser is some hand-held, supposedly legal in all 50 states.. I'll ask the travel buddy... if you're expecting danger, you put the pin in & walk with it ready.. otherwise, there's no way you'll get it out of the case, put the little pin in & push the button in time.. and the pepper spray takes aim.. wish we could practice :)
