Yeah, that's my problem. Louise and I like to share our bedding, so two twins won't do. A queen would do, though.

Cots for a single person are fine. I'd want to lay on one before I bought it, but if I slept alone, I'd get a cot for my tent.

The major issue with cots is cold weather. The allow cold air to circulate under the cot and keep you from warming the underlying surface. That's probably not a problem on at Burning Man. Louise and I camp in Death Valley over Thanksgiving, and it's high teens to low twenties overnight, so a cot would not work for us there.

I use a full size 4 inch foam mattress under two zipped together sleeping bags in my two room tent. Front room is parlor/storage, back room for sleeping (closed up most of the time). Works for me. A cot is too cramped for me, I like to kick around and turn.

We use a self-inflating backpackers pad in a double size, topped with a memory foam topper. Fits the tiny tent like a glove. Cozy and comfy.

Okay, the two major problems with cots are staying warm and having sex. Other than that, what have cots ever done for us?

I have a single cot and really like it...I like having the storage space under the cot, and I like having somewhere to sit in my tent besides the floor, I get enough of that on backpacking trips. The cot fabric by itself is a little "hard" so I use a memory foam topper - comfy and warm, I slept like a rock last year.

Would gladly give up the cot if I had a sleeping partner, but until that happens, the cot is the bomb.

Well, UD, it looks kinda cool, maybe some memory foam or a pair of naked vixens as Ygmir suggests to add to that cushy on the tushy feeling. But, it is from Cabela's, so its bound to be rather pricey?

Pretty much the exact set up the wife and I use. We have one on each side of the cabin tent.

Extra long twin sheets will fit the over the pad. We brought some lightweight flannel sheets last year and it was a lovely "lay me down to sleep" place.

Meh, we've been sleeping together in the same bed for over 21 years, a week and a half in separate beds is something to almost look forward to.

We'll be using a 1 1/2 thickness air mattress (self-inflating) with a double sleeping bag. We tested it out a couple of weeks ago and it got down to 5 degrees (Celsius, I have no idea what that is in Fahrenheit) over night and we were still warm. Of course, it helps when you've got another body to cozy up to, especially if you do some pre-heating of the bed beforehand.

a few more benefits of the cot: getting out of it is easier than getting up off the ground. O.K. many of the things I was going to list as separate benefits, all have to do with gravity and it's stronger force on me as I've gotten older. I might say it feels more civilized to have that bed height for sitting and putting on my shoes... but really that's just gravity again. Oh... wait, I like the fact that I don't have to inflate the cot... that's not a gravity issue.

I find that my back complains when I sleep just on the cot. With a thermarest pad it's very comfortable. In cold weather, I use my mylar windhshield shade between the cot and pad, and it does feel warmer. I also remember to tip the cot on the side before I leave my tent for the day so it does not become a big dustpile.

That cot looks like a super good size. Also it has a little more structural style than most cots. We all can come over and stand on it if you really want our opinion from that perspective.

Last year it got down to freezing on Tuesday morning after the burn. I had ice outside of my tent.

I use a cot at night with a good sleeping bag and optional extra layers. In addition to the advantages already mentioned for cots you can store stuff underneath.

Was that an Aero Bed?

I'm tempted to buy one this year. They're on sale right now at Costo for $30 off so they're $85 from June 15- July 5th. It's still expensive but we're due for a new air mattress anyway. our Coleman regular blow up mattress loses air and just isn't as comfortable as an Aero Bed.

Actually no, we're using the Coleman one. We've never had any problems with it losing air, but it is still relatively new.
