Circus Jerk looking for performance tent

Post by GoatWeedy » Mon Jun 08, 2009 10:12 am

Circus Jerk needs a performance tent for our camp and we have to decide whether to a) rent, b) buy, or c) make it ourselves. Oddly enough, commissioning a company to make a striped circus tent for us is much cheaper (shipped from Oklahoma) than renting, but it's still expensive and they can't really do much in terms of artistic design.

We have resources and skills to build our own tent, about 20 feet in diameter, 14-feet high; you can check out our design on www.circusjerk.com. At this point we're leaning toward fabricating our own tent because we can make it exactly as we'd like and save some $$. But it IS a project. I wanted to poll you guys to see if anyone has advice or another suggestion for us. We thought about a hexayurt for about 10 mins, and then decided we really want the vintage circus thing-- but totally nailed down for the Playa winds.

We've got about two weeks before we have to make a decision. If you've got a tent that might work for us, let us know. If you've had experience building your own tent, say hi and we'll have questions for ya. Or if you just wanna say something, you can do that too!

Cheers, peeps!

... how do you know it's not a typo? ;)

Actually that's intentional. If you check out our website, you'll see we're a gay circus camp.

Looking forward to it.
Straight people can be jerks and clowns too, you know.

No... no aerial rig! :) We're actually scaling down quite a bit. We've experienced a few financial casualties, due to the economic downturn, and won't have the circus tent as planned. We're still working on putting together the public space, tho, and the events. NEXT YEAR... we hope to have the big tent.
