i am in oakland. anybody know where i can find outdoor rope-lights, or even stings of christmas lights this time of year? i want white light. thanks!

Target and walmart both have them year round.

Also try RV supply places- They carry 12V stuff, which is handy.

You can find some decent strands of LED xmas lights for 6-10$ on fleaBay that come with a solar charger/battery pack and an optical sensor that will turn them on when the sun goes down.

I used a bunch of these the last 2 burns, what they lack in lumens can be easily counteracted by simply buying more of them.

Before the summer/garden stuff is gone, you could try places like Home Depot or Lowes. I just bought some solar rope lights at a regional chain here called Menards.

The solar powered LED strings last all night. One strand we had even lasted TWO nights on a single day's charge!

I picked up some solar stars on a strand at Target, very pretty and long-lasting.
