The project's almost there. The main complaint is the view obstruction. 1/4 of the Cape's electricity will be generated by this complex. The view issue will hopefully be overcome.

Cowboy, people are funny about view. I took kids camping at Carpenteria, Ca. They thought that the drilling rigs out by the channel islands were Fairy castles,,, especially at night. I certainly don't consider wing gens to be ugly.

New lithium batteries. "Using their new processing technique, the team made a small battery that could be fully charged in 10 to 20 seconds."

Just completed a project that work great.
Time to install, bout 2mins.
Cost, 2$ for two
We have two skylites that leave a lot of heat in and out(@ the wrong time of the year)
It's getting hot and I prefer the sun not heat the rooms.
So i put a thermo camp blanket(2$ space blanket) over the screen. Except for six inches on the hinge end. Reinstalled the screen and opened the shylite.
As the air warms between the thermo blanket and the skylite window the air expans and moves out. The air is replace form the warmer ceiling air in the room.
Opened the kitchen window on the far end of the house..Then lit some matches and followed the smoke. The air sucked in the the kitchen went righ to the bedroom and out the skylite.

1. Still doesn't work at night (snicker)
2. In the next volcanic eruption on the scale of the one in AD 535, all solar energy dies for a few years.
This stuff all sounds really great as long as things always stay exactly like they are ... but when we see a repeat of an eruption on that scale, we aren't even going to be able to grow beans in South Dakota or produce solar power. That eruption reduced the population of the planet by 50%.
Solar is fine for non-essential stuff. How many solar panels does it take to power an electric blast furnace 24x7?
A little background on the c. 535 eruption here.

Geekster, that was a REAL asskicking. First I've heard of it. It's interesting about the extensive plague. Our bodies can't produce vitamin D3 without sunlight. D3 is one of the major disease fighters. There's a whole list of things waiting for us.
http://www.exitmundi.nl/ The climatologists mention that we're in the late Holocene and that it has been very nice for an unusually long time. We might all die someday

Ms. clitoris, I'm well aware of that. The first time I almost died was at age 3 months. I received an operation that had never been successful on infants and only twice on adults. In my case, they did it without anesthesia because they believed that infants couldn't feel pain. Since then, life has been a blur of explosions, falls, crashes, guns [the wrong end], derailments, fires, etc. I get constant reminders that "checkout" time could be anytime.
Thank you for burning for me.

One might use the same line of argument to say that we should find an alternative source of food to the current use of plants. Or maybe we should just stockpile massive amounts of food with an indefinite shelf life, like Twinkies.geekster wrote:Couple of problems with it:
