First off, you're not begging for "gift" tickets? No? Good.
Second, you do have everything else, and are just lacking for tickets, gas and food. Right? Okay.

Do you have enough good stuff to put on a good garage sale? I mean, if you have an extra rice cooker you might be able to sell it for $10 to someone who can't afford to buy new because of the economy. But if all you have is a bunch of crap... And the cardinal rule of selling all your stuff at a garage sale is to undercut the thrift stores. That's not the same rule as maximizing your in pocket dollars so ~shrug~.

Any chance you can use public transit instead of driving? Eat in more, cook your own food.

You may have noticed that this a pretty banal "how to get by in a tough economy" list of advice. I'm not sure there is a magic bullet for your problem. Can you content yourself with a regional during the summer and a big burn party on burn night?

If you and your Boyfriend take $5.00 a day (each and put it in a big Jar...thats 310.00 x's 2....$620.00

Start Today!
Then 10 days before you leave you might even score 1st tier tix from someone who couldnt pull it off and that would leave you some gas $!

I wasnt bashing you...I was earnestly trying to give you more idea's?

Here too is another "idea"

Look into BIG ART that is planned for the playa this year...contact the designers and see if you can get in on Build/chef/clean up/errand gal, etc... Duty!
These typically come with a early entry pass and a golden ticket!

But be prepared to work for every penny that Golden ticket is worth....and then some!!!!

Very rewarding, but also very demanding.
And you cant say...oh Im to tired to work today...
Blood, sweat and lots o tears! but so fricken worth it!

Done that been there...all but the "Im too tired to work part"
I worked my fricken ass off last year for this arrangement. 17 days on playa.
Tore the ligaments out of my knee on opening day (after all the set up work was done!)
And at the end...I worked my ass and knee off to load up our Theme camp!
6 months of recovery. gimping around.
But I do it....Cause I love it!
And I think its just toooo damn fun to not work hard....to make it feel like you deserve that much fun!
If it doesnt work out this year.... Start saving on opening day....364 days till the man burns!
Names pinemom, but my friends call me "Piney".

What's this skill you speak of. Might be helpful if you have something someone else needs.

if i were you i would hunt down your so-called friend and either get my money back, or kill them, slowly, with tools. Power tools.....no wait, a hand held plane and a screwdriver....yeah....

gets me hot just thinking about it.

but thats just me. you might prefer garden stuff, like a roto-tiller across the gut.

to each his own.

Either way, nobody fucks me out of that much money without winding up in a ditch.*
