OK, here's a serious response with what I hope are some useful suggestions.
Talk about your hopes and expectations, especially your desires and boundaries. What things do you both want to experience, and what are the deal breakers. Whatever currently delights or frustrates you about each other will be amplified, so get it out in the open as soon as you can [this is good advice even if you don't go to the playa].
Talk to people who have been there, especially if those people have relationship experience on the playa. It's OK to use the boards to find people, but eplaya (and tribe and...) are only going to take you so far. On the other hand, there's a lot to read posted all over, so read it (search is your friend).
Go to something together like a regional. Burning Man will be a stressful week in the heat and cold and dust and wind. Try something less taxing at first.

You need to look out after each other too ... when one of you gets touchy, listen when the other tells you to drink some water, sit in the shade, eat. I have squabbled with MyLarry, and usually it is when we're tired or getting a little dry. we just take a break for an hour or two and we're good. I only stomped off without water once, but luckily I have ranger buddies who chased me down and made sure I had my pack. It was over nothing... just picking at each other until we blew up.
If you dig around on the main site, you will find a relationship guide. Let me know if it eludes you and I'll look it up.
Even if you two want time apart, be certain to honor time together.

The only thing better than going with an unseasoned girl friend is going with your girlfriend and having your ex-girlfriend close by - usually in the same camp.I've heard some things about burning man can either make or breake a relationship. It provides HOURS of entertainment for the rest of us.
