Looking for Reno burners.....
Hey folks! my name is Barry and this will be my 3rd burn. I cant wait. My girlfriend and I are getting into town on Aug 28th and have hotel reservations at the motel 6 livestock event center. I was simply trying to maybe meet some Reno burners to party it up with before the burn and show us around town. Also looking for a ride to home depot and wal-mart for more supplies. We'd be glad to treat you to dinner. We are coming from Miami and really don't know anyone out there until we get on the playa...(Oh how I miss that dust.) Anyhow, Looking forward to meeting some cool people as I have every year.
Cheers! Barry and Sabrina 8)
P.s. If you happen to know anyone that was involved with the Reno Casino @ the 07' burn tell them I'm sorry that their mega dome collapsed however I still enjoyed the piss hot tequila shots after building it.
In that Motel 6, you may want to bring a large can of Lysol and spray the place down really well. You will have no trouble finding burners in Reno on that date, however, they will not be partying, they will be gathering supplies and repairing vehicles.
Just show up Reno and look around.
Lol. your not the first to mention about the cleanlyness of that place but thank you. you have made it offical.

Be sure to remove the bedspread and throw it in the corner of the room, ya might wanna use tongs for that.
Shambala is right , most will be packing and preparing, and the rest will already be out there setting up Themecamps and such.

A cheap motel in Reno, right next to the freeway? Naw, just like the playa. Noisy, dirty, gunshot like noises down Wells Avenue.
Fourth Street hookers are just over the railroad overpass. There are even a Denny's and a Sizzlers and a Chevron station two blocks south.
The burners will be at Twin Cities Surplus, Wal-mart, K-mart, and the other Mart-marts. Their distinctive apperance and attitude make them readily identifiable. ( Marlin Perkins reference inserted here for Wild, wild World of Animals.)
Try rideshare, craigslist, couchsurfing, etc... for rides. Or just stick out your thumb like hundreds of other burners.

Yeah, but thier business that they left on the bedspead in your room is a conglomorate from hundreds of thier customers.
Seriously, throw the bedpread in the corner when you get there, as they never wash those things..........

The rooms smell like an old clothes hamper. The bedspeads are soiled beyond comprehension and the bathroom fixtures are old and rusty. It's in a really shitty part of of town---but the rooms are cheap. As long as you know what you are in for, you'll have a great time there. I stay at the Marriott now. They are very accomodating and I can ship boxes ahead for me to pick up. Well worth the few extra bucks.

How much "about" did it cost to ship to the marriott and did they store your stuff for you? how far is it from down town and the marts???
P.s. Thanks for the heads up from all of you. Leave it to a bunch of burners to scare the shit out of you. love ya!

Yeah, you picked probably the worst Motel 6 in town. I can honestly say I've never been inside it, but the area is in the news frequently. The upside is you are right up the street from Twin City Surplus (which sadly, happens to be on 4th street with the hookers)Barry Bennett wrote:How much "about" did it cost to ship to the marriott and did they store your stuff for you? how far is it from down town and the marts???Shambala wrote:The rooms smell like an old clothes hamper. I use Marriott miles to stay at the hotel and they don't charge anything to send some boxes ahead and hold them for you. I have used their hoses to fill an RV with water and also fill lots of water jugs. The staff is great and have fun the the BM crowd that stays there. It's right around the corner from Walmart, Trader Joe's and directly across the street from Home Depot. If you have to pay for the hotel, it's a little pricey, but the place is really first class.Barry Bennett wrote:

Saturday night 8/29 at Lawer event center (just down from the casinos) is the west coasts biggest Rocky Horror Picture Show. Last year over 6,000 people jammed in there for the show...and its free!! Thats something to do between the hookers, and packing of your shade...I don't know if it'd be any cleaner than your hotel room though.
What other people think about you is none of your business.

Old Guy pretty much had it on the nose......you will definately find burners by either Twin City Surplus (on 4th Street) and the Walmarts (Northtowne or Kietzske or So. Virginia).......rounding up supplies.
Just keep an eye on your speedometer......
