i am brand new, help

Post by josheezammit » Fri Jun 26, 2009 11:12 am

So i want to be there, I know it is only 70 days away, but i find in my heart high levels of motivation and a desire to explore, can you help me out?

how can i find a group of like minded individuals and survive the experience?

Any advice available adheres to my heart.

There'll be 30 or 40 or 50 thousand like minded individuals there, josh. What is it you're worried about?

Go to the BM website and read the guides. Read stuff here. Ask more specific questions.

in order to find like-minded persons to camp with, it would help to know what your mind is actually like...

what do you want to do, and are you willing to work? because nothing will ingratiate you more with a crew then working. i advise that you find something you like, then offer to be helpful. all beginnings start there, and i'm sure your new friends can guide you from that point on what the expectations are for sharing a camp with them. don't forget to read the survival guide, its pretty helpful too.

have fun!

I am open for anything, the only thing that concerns me about working is the schedule due to the fact that I probably wont be able to leave the san antonio area until sunday the 30th at noon, would there be openings for volunteers then?

the details of your availability will have to be worked out with the camp you want to be helping. open for everything does not help narrow down what you like, maybe you should consider how you can apply your current skillset to the needs of a camp or department. i recommend you look at this link to volunteer your time with the event it's self http://www.burningman.com/participate/volunteer.html where i just know you'll find availability to suit your needs. or try looking around here on eplaya for projects and camps to inquire about.

anything can mean a lot of things, try to be a little more specific. this is your time, what do you want from it?

When in doubt, burn something.
At the very least, you'll make lots of nice fireman friends.

Can't hurt to check out Texas regionals to find people near you who might be going.

Looks like San Antonio is about equidistant from Austin and DFW, I suspect Austin is going to be more lively (altho if there are Dallas/Fort Worth people on eplaya I may have to eat those words.)

One way to age, or take off the shiny newness, is to paint the object with sienna or black acrylic paint and then quickly wiping it off again. This will leave traces of the color in the cracks and corners and give the object a pleasing patina of age.
