HI everyone....
man, it's hot........
I left early to get to the mountains to work before it got hot.........
well.........I worked right through the heat.......once "it's rolling", I just can't stop........boy, even though it's cooler at 5800', the sun is so intense, it hurts a fragile fellow such as myself......

but, I'll have nice outhouses for when you all come to my mountain retreat/hideout............

glad to see you pop in LeChat.........

Hey, who's this "Mozy" fellow with the cold wind?............giggle........
It does have a nice effect, though, on the patrons.......

anyone for a drink?

Sounds like you're doing what Obama's doing - improving infrastructure. Everywhere I went in Michigan on the weekend there was construction.

I'll try to avoid being compared to the messiah, though, thanks...........grin.........

but, yes, I'm creating infrastructure, actually.
at my place up there in the mountains, is a "one hole" outhouse......been there for years.
It works fine, but, I'd like to upgrade.......

I've installed a sealed concrete tank, and, put a two room, no waiting, facility in.........not quite done yet, though.
no leakage of sewage into the land, I'll have it pumped once a year, or, I may make it a composting toilet system.....it's a 1500 gallon concrete tank.......lots of compost there, boy howdy.......

no running water there, just a spring, but, lower than the Hof and outhouse.....so, good drinking water, but, gotta be carried. ergo the outhouse/composting toilet system, no flushies.........

at least until I can afford a solar pump and build a water tower........

Here's a Lemon Drop for you! And I'll have another just to show you the custom that I was taught. Before you take a sip, you lick the salt and lemon off your drinking partner's hand then sip from your own glass. Good way to get to know folks.

I might as well admit that pronunciation is the hardest part for me with languages. I can read and write French but I'm always self-conscious when trying to speak it. I'm afraid of offending a native speaker of the language. When in Montreal or Quebec City, I do make an honest effort.

Since learning a bit, Iâ€™ve found it interesting how similar the different dialects of various languages (and even languages themselves on occasion) are similar to the different dialects found in the US. Wisconsin verses east Kentucky or North Carolina for instance. Both speaking English, yet their own versions that have completely different words (in the vernacular) at times for the same thing.

Realizing this made other languages seem less unattainable to me, somehow.

Ah yes, especially the Roman based languages. There is great similarities among this group, for sure. The funny thing about French, at least here in Canada, is that in Quebec they speak a patois or slang version of the native French speaker. In all the other provinces we are required to take several years of French language instruction but they teach us the original Parisienne French! Ha! then when you go to Quebec you can't understand a word they say!

I spent this past weekend translating for an older woman from Eastern, (former) East Germany to English & back for my parents...
(((all of us in one tiny Winnebago...))
and due to "her vernacular" I am GLAD I have not only studied the language by school & book, but also by visiting several German speaking countries. I thought Vienna talked baby talk! Geesh!

She says she had to drop out of her English classes (in Germany), because her teacher spoke British English & it confused her.

But French.... oooh... French is still a completely elusive language to me.
But to hear Le Chat say, "madamoiselle!" just like ze Frenchamn !!!

Karine: how fortunate for you to know German. I've always thought this was the hardest of languages to learn. French on the other hand is much easier to learn - there is so much derivation in English from the French that it is relatively easy to pick up.

Goathead, thanks for the wonderful pictures of the playa. Would you like a Lemon Drop drink too? I know you're on duty but what the hey?

I think we might have chased Goathead back to work. He popped in but is gone now.

Risky, I had so much fun on the weekend. Not sure if that's respectable or not but I really enjoyed the whole weekend. I felt like I was at home with good friends. And most of them I only knew online before but they were so special. We laughed, cried and we talked about Caleb but then we also enjoyed the event. Really it was very healing.
