im just wondering about a few things,a nd i was hoping for a more personal response than readign the website. i love my art, i love making and creating my art. how does all that sort of stuff work at burning man? being new, do i just come and chill out and make my art? to be able to show it, do i need to register somehow?
also. how do the theme camps work? im staying in the walk-in camp... i just sort of want some info on what im going to experience. thanks.

What do you mean by "show" your art? If you mean display it for all to see, you can find a camping spot near one of the roads or make arrangement with some camp that is already on a main road and display anything you want. Be prepared for damage due to dust, sunlight, and the occasional tweaker wandering by. If you mean show it for sale, no dice. No selling is allowed.
If you have a large installation you can arrange with the org to get a spot on the open playa. I'm not famailar with that process, but it should be buried on the BM website somewhere.
You can make art while on playa, just be sure to figure out some way to capture ALL of the waste. Saw dust, paint splatters, metal filings, EVERYTHING. Keep in mind the wind will attempt to pick it up and carry it away.

Hi and welcome to the board. Here is my personal response.
It's always good to see artist join the event. Burningman is pretty much a do anything till someone tells you to stop kind of thing, and you won't get many people to tell you to stop. Most won't care cause their busy doing their thing and will either stop and appreciate/interact with or just smile or not and keep stepping . Art can be displayed anytime, anywhere you decide to stop, and setup your exhibt. Make sure you leave no trace of your artwork once you decide to not exhibt anymore. Keep the area around you artwork, clear, and clean it constantly (look down if you see trash on the ground, it belongs to you, pick it up.) If you decide to leave your artwork alone remember, it may be just be left alone, or people may pick it apart for Burningman memorabilia be prepared to be part of someone else's experience. A artwork intallation that you left 10 minutes ago as a chair, two pairs of gloves, a cigar box full of pixi dust, a drawing of you ex-dog Chow-Chow, may have morphed into a Highway Road Cone three books on Ti-Chi, a dj mix CD, a bycicle wheel, and a half chewed dildo.

Nobody is required to join theme camps, you can do art in any camping area, and the walk-in camping area is a great place for it if it doesn't involve open flame.

Show up with your plans and your expectations. But be pepared for your plans to change and things to be different than you expected (but in a good way). Black Rock City can be a bit overwhelming your first time,
but just relax and go where your heart and your mind take you.
