Nope. But somebody got hit by a speeding pizza delivery truck by the Nitty Gritty Tuesday night. The young man was chasing someone across the street. First person got across okay, the second got hit by the pizza delivery truck, which, based on skid mark measurements, was going at 50MPH in a 25 zone. Or at least that's what we got told by my supervisor. (At first he jokingly told us it was a gang shooting with 5 dead... )

There were still a dozen or so people when we left.....it could have been someone from the Playa that used the Trego crossing also

Not sure about Monday but on Sunday we were in Bruno's and the local sheriff's deputy came in to use the phone. Said he was there for the first "Burningman accident" of the year - whatever the hell that means. Evidently there was an accident involving a truck (van?) and a woman on a motorcycle very near Gerlach. Bruno mentioned that the woman was in pretty bad shape.

I guess he forgot that he had a cellphone.

I am suprised he knew where the payphone was.

He has been known to handle some things with matters privately.
And there are times when a land line, is better to use then a cell.
I doubt Bruno would let him use the pay phone.
This is Gerlack after all.

Deputies sometimes use landlines when repeaters are down, when sensitive information is not wanted to be sent over the clear radio ( scanners are used by reporters and bad guys.), or when great distances are involved, or info is sent from laptops, or ???.

I used to ride a softail. A guy in my old club lost a leg, accidents are common.

White Totota Tundra rolled, They were doing donuts and caught an edge.

Older camaro - gets stuck, overheats and burns up. I just got back this Am from the land speed runs. We have been on playa since saturday the 4th. just of of hte 3 mile entrance. Much of the team is still there.

We have been hitting frog pond nightly, great poi show on wednesday night there, and someone had a TON of old parachute flares - they were everywhere nightly!!

later
