Why does everyone need to join a theme camp?

Post by goathead » Thu Jul 09, 2009 3:10 am

The first 4 years my wife and I went out we pulled in, parked, meet the neighbors, wandered, explored.

We feed people, I brought out some homebrew, we shared what we had and had a great time.

Durning our 4th year we came across the camp we would camp with for years to come.

We look at the who, what, where, and when after the event.
Run on playa time when I am there.
Still wander, explore, and still amazed by what I find.

I went with a theme camp last year because my firespinning friends were going pretty much. I'm kinda a shy person so the prospect of being there and already being around people i know, and being able to go back to homebase ya know, was kinda nice. I think when i go back in '10 I'll tryt the solo thing

I am a newbie and i thought you had to be in a camp. So can i just fly to reno, rent a car, drive to BRC, breakout my camping equipment and check out the lay of the land? I did not know that was an option. I will be going solo, and as of yet will not know anyone when i get there. That doesn't scare me, I'm up for the adventure. A few questions though? how do i secure my tent when i'm roaming around BRC? I know i can't camp in my rental van, but will i have access to it? Thanks for any & all advice you can give.

I'm sure that I've seen about 23 posts that read:
I am a lazy, smelly slob and I don't want to be in a themecamp my virgin year. If a theme camp camps around me, I will spoil your kitchen, slash your tents, sabatoge your rvs and drink your booze. Thank you.

Better than 'don't leave valuables', I would say:

* Leave wallet locked in car
* Keep keys hidden somewhere
* Don't bring anything you aren't prepared to lose

Liz...in your first post, Jan 09, you state that this will be your first time out...most of your subsequent posts are 'hater' posts...hopefully, visiting BRC will give you more positive information to share...

J2Cool...it's also a good idea to make friends with the folks camped around you, then you can all 'watch out' for each other's stuff...

 Good bust Gaminwench. Personally I hope that @^#&$ Liz decides to vaca at Disney World this year, then she can round around knocking ice cream cones outta the kiddies hands. Seems to be her style.

You know though - the Haters sometimes help the Lovers get closer together.

I know a couple of true burners who almost left the playa their 1st time out, due to bad experiences with idiots, only to have their experiences redeemed by wonderful people....

This includes me and I'm tearing up now... 8)

"toots" ?? LOL You must be old as a fossil too; I guess that's another reason he dumped you...assuming you actually are who you say you are, which I think is doubtful at this point. (I tend to believe the 'interweb', it doesn't have an agenda.)

I've got an eplaya tip for you. If you look to the left of a really annoying persons post you will see three smilies in a row. If you click the middle one you will banish them from your existence, also called plonking. A function that really can come in handy around here. Just don't do it to your own post because you seem alright and we might want to keep you around (and it might just bring on the apocalypse).

If 'Liz' is a burner( meaning someone who's actually been to BRC), which I doubt, she/he would be an example of a troll in action...
