it is not for us to judge, rebbi, you are correct, and wise.

he will be judged by eternity, and we humans can only dream of what that may be.

There is no romanticism in the act of war. It hurts countries, humanity and families and has no redeeming end. When humanity can choose to resolve differences through negotiation and set aside the greed which motivates the acquisitive nature of war, then we will have achieved something like a neutral place to explore peace from.

I am reposting this from another Canadian burner.

A tragedy has struck the Burner community here in Vancouver. A young man known as "Howler," or David Fletcher, is presumed to have drowned while swimming at the Diversity Festival on Texada Island this weekend. I
personally didn't know him, but just heard about this and thought I should
repost it here, in case any of you may have known him.

A Vancouver man is presumed drowned after swimming in the ocean off
Texada Island Friday night.

David Kevin Fletcher, 35, was reported missing on Saturday by friends
who were with him at the Diversity music festival on Shingle Beach, on
the island's lower west shore.

Fletcher's untouched clothes were found in a pile near the water,
which indicates the man went in for a swim and did not come out, said
Powell River RCMP staff Sgt. Andy Brinton.

Brinton said the waters were calm Friday night but the current can be
strong along the coastline.

Legendary CBS anchor Walter Cronkite dies at 92
NEW YORK (AP) -- Walter Cronkite, the premier TV anchorman of the networks' golden age who reported a tumultuous time with reassuring authority and came to be called "the most trusted man in America," has died. He was 92. CBS vice president Linda Mason says Cronkite died at 7:42 p.m. Friday with his family by his side at his home in New York after a long illness.

He was the face of the "CBS Evening News" from 1962 to 1981, when stories ranged from the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy and the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. to racial and anti-war riots, Watergate and the Iranian hostage crisis.

It was Cronkite who read the bulletins coming from Dallas when Kennedy was shot Nov. 22, 1963, interrupting a live CBS-TV broadcast of the soap opera "As the World Turns."

I call myself a news junkie these days...but the first TV Anchor I remember is Walter Cronkite. There will be many anchors to come, but that's one set of shoes that will never be filled again. Not even close.

A man that was trusted more than anyone in power in Washington DC, and who was invited into millions of homes each and every weekday night. Today is my dad's birthday!!!! HaPpY BiRtHdAy, DaDdY!!!

His name was Roger Leroy Stepke, born in Detroit in 1935. He died in February 1980 from colon cancer. He was a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne. I went skydiving twice because of that. He was a nature lover. I get my love of camping and fishing from him. He loved the Earth. I get that from him too. Every time he'd take us kids fishing and camping, he'd give us a hefty bag and make us go pick up cans and garbage. He hated litter bugs. He said we should always leave the Earth better than what we found it. My dad would have LOVED Burning Man. He wasn't alive when Sammi was born, but I always felt him watching us from afar. Now he watches Sammi and me and baby RJ. I feel his smiles and love in my heart and soul always. LOVE YA, DAD!!!! Rest In Peace!!!!! XOXOXOXOXOXOXO

Born Gerald William Stepke.
He was born in Viesbaden, Germany, where we were stationed.

Jerry was murdered.

Bob Burning is his killer.

Yes, without les today's guitar sounds would never have the sound it has if it wasn't les paul and great guitarist and inventor- reverberation was the sounds of 50-60's. I couldn't imagine hearing surf music without it or the rock of the 60's.

I ran into many muscians that I played with that studied with him, including a cousin, I used to play early black sabbath with back in early 1970 to Jazz players in college and on stage.
