Best advesive for Vinyl tarps???

Post by Mr.? » Mon Jul 13, 2009 5:20 pm

I'm looking to glue two large 20mm billboard tarps together. I've heard that regular PVC glue melts the vinyl together nicely, but I'd rather hear from someone who has actually done this before?

You would still only be hearing it until you actually do it.

Ummm, okay??? Anyway, if someone on Eplaya has actually used an adhesive to glue two pieces of billboard vinyl together would you please inform me as to which cement you used to do the gluing? How well did it work to permanently bond the tarps?
Is that clear enough for you OED?

I got it!.. Thanks for clearing that up for me! Which cement is it that you used? H-66 is what most tarp sites sell for vinyl adhesive, however I'm curious as to the difference between that one and regular PVC clear cement?

Press the "Search" link at the top of the page.

Search for "vinyl glue". Select the "search all terms" radio button.

Press the "search" link at the bottom of the page.

Marvel at the wealth of first hand experiences.

Are you serious???
That's your solution???
I hate to be rude to the two of you have nothing better to do? I'll leave all the other comments to myself, as you two obviously don't have that control.

First off I've looked all over Tribe and Eplaya, and yes I've found SOME information on this subject; as you can see from my initial question, "I'm looking for someone who has specific experience with using billboard vinyl and some sort of PVC/Vinyl Cement." so I don't understand why I'm getting a lesson on how to search for a keyword?
Secondly it seems like this site is more about cracking jokes than Tribe. The comments that I see on here brings to mind the quote "There are no stupid questions; only stupid answers"

For the next person that needs the information.

http://eplaya.burningman.org/viewtopic. ... vinyl+glue

I'll let you know what works for me, but I'm going to get two types of PVC cement tomorrow and order some stuff called H-66 vinyl cement.

Take a deep breath Sonny.

The search I did yielded plenty of answers.

One guy tried several glues and found one particular brand that worked well. He posted a link.

Second cat posted detailed instructions on how to weld seams with a heat gun.

A lovely lady explained how she used an iron over some newsprint to weld seams.

Some sailor mentioned some barge cement which worked well for him.

Some tool explained a combination rivet and soldering iron method.

So, go do the search and help yourself.

Would you like me to link to all these posts for you?

A tip for the unwieldy eplaya search engine. If you are looking for "vinyl glue". In the search string add "AND" between words you are looking for. "vinyl AND glue" This will only return only posts containing both of these words, greatly reducing the clutter.

Wow another ever so helpful and enlightening post by OED. Who would have guessed? Aren't we all so lucky to have him around?

Anyways Mr? I have glue similar tarps together and I personally like the Gorilla Glue brand PVC glue. It worked very nicely. Fucking superb. Not the regular brand Gorilla Glue but the PVC form of it. The hold is very nice. Only thing with that glue is you don't want to get it anywhere on your skin. It will turn it weird colors for daaays. Biodegradable too so thats a plus.

Let me know what you end up using, I am curious. Always looking for bigger and better things. Holla!

Oh I see, so all the e-regulars can be smart asses, but if your not in the cool crowd you get singled out as being the asshole...

And as an added bonus you get private messages with personal threats saying things like "don't fuck with me", "stay out of my threads" or "Ill regret it". Thanks for the love letter H.G.Crosby.

Look there is no hate in me ok. I'm just having a lil fun once in a while. Just as much as all the other smart asses on here. So thats that. Have a good day.

In more than one thread, you have thrown the first glove with me, I am merely throwing the glove back, after adding a few rolls of coins into the fingers first.

nothing wrong with a little wit, and you are right in the range where you are not considered a "noob" depending on how you handle yourself. Just don't start crying about it, keep em coming, that's the smartass way of life.

As for someone sending you nasty P.M.s that should be kept personal, not posted here, and if it gets outta hand, tell the moderators, and not us.

now that we have gotten that out of the way, you wanna play some Bible Trivia ??

Puke works great, it's surprisingly flexible when it dries. Eat some cat food first.
