Post by bigbluedoggy » Tue Jul 14, 2009 9:39 pm

In case it hasn't been noticed yet, the 2009 BRC map was posted today on the BM site! http://www.burningman.com/preparation/m ... index.html

This year's street names will be:

Esplanade
Adapt
Biology
Chaos
DNA
Extinct
Fossil
Genome
Hominid
Inherit
Jurassic
Kinship
Lineage

Center Camp ring road: Evolution

2009 BLACK ROCK CITY PLAN

We received a great deal of feedback critical of the expanded size of the 2008 city, so it’s "deja vu all over againâ€
A plan is what you vary from.

Destiny Lounge 3D will be at Bradbury and 3:15 this year as a part of the 404: Village Not Found group of camps! Come see us!

What are the two areas that extend out past the outter streets at 5:30 and 6:30?

Well, its nice to see that the size has been reduced somewhat, hopefully my chest pain will only be a 3 instead of an 8

Trying to remember what those 2 nipply things are as well Bounce. I thought I remember something like "staging" area's, semi's or ? parked there. But I know that a more experienced burner will set us straight. And speak the words of truthfulness and righteousness. :D
Excuse me Ma'am, your going to feel a small prick.

Thinking back to last year, I believe they are prob the DPW area's. The 5:30 one being where the semi's are parked and the the 6:30 being a structure.

I believe the one at 5:30 is the DPW area and the other is the United Site Services area.

Shaded areas reserved until 11:59 pm, Sunday August 30th for registered, placed theme camps, and also includes some space held back for the general public. After that, all unoccupied camping areas of BRC become available to all.

What ?? Is this new ??

Registered themecamp areas are still saved for those themecamps until wednesday.

If they end up as a no-show, then thier space is up for grabs.

I can see how that could be mis-read
We have an obligation to make space for everyone, we have no obligation to make that space pleasant.

Last year LEO base and rescue helipad were out there past the fence between greeters and point near 12 mile, also communications base for radio nets was inside fenceline. DPW and trailers were inside the fenceline near greeters area. Airport road is just east of walkin camping area.

I was a Perimeter ride-along Sat. and Sun. last year chasing down playa snakes. There are Perimeter people as well as LEO's and BLM patrolling outside the fence. We had ground radar/ infared/ radio based at the Blackhole next to commisary/cafateria tent. Gate/Perimeter people are not Greeters. Washoe County Sheriffs are not Blackrock Rangers. You are not me, I am not you. Coo-coo-cachoo.

Last year for the first time, all theme camps were required to have claimed their space by the time the gates opened or it was up for grabs. They do not hold those spaces until Wednesday any more as far as I can tell.

Does it look like the plan got rotated 30 minutes clockwise from years past?

North used to run 4:30 - 10:30.

On this map it looks like 4:00 - 10:00

Might have to adjust how I park the rig.

I thought this was the case too. After a little research I found out theme camps must have someone arrive before the event opens to reserve space. When the gates open on Aug 31st all the spaces are up for grabs.

heres the link:

http://www.burningman.com/themecamps/re ... l#reserved
Keep in mind that when you complete the Questionnaire, as well as meet the other criteria for placement, a limited number of your campmates must arrive to the playa before our event opens for set-up. After our event opens, all areas in the city open and available on a first come/ first camp basis.

If you are not a registered Theme Camp your friends can still find you. You may register at Playa Information Services to be a part of the Burning Man Directory.
