White Tyvek Camoflage tarps

Post by ap5150 » Tue Jul 21, 2009 11:20 am

Does anyone know where to obtain those white, tyvek (or similar polyester material) perforated tarps? I was told they were a scandinavian military surplus. The few links I could find in here from majorsurplus.com are dead. Our camp needs to replace a few after the tempests of 2008.

thanks!

Thanks SilverOrange! Any idea what this stuff is made of? They all say "non-toxic material" which makes me think it's not tyvek... have you bought any of these?

No and No. I have a feeling they are trying to assuage peoples fears about them being fire retardant. Some of the stuff they used to use for that was pretty nasty.

DuPont has an MSDS page on Tyvek.

...they are not tyvek....if they were they would last a lot longer and would not tear. They are more like paper infused with plastic resin. It is also more rough than tyvek is.

also search for "swedish snow camo"

good luck - they have been hard to find since the BM '06 season bought them out...

I don't know if you guys are near SF or not. If so there is a place on Market st and I want to say between 6th or 7th'ish called Kaplans Military Surplus. I roll through there once in a while and then before the burn for sure. They usually have them, but probably a safe bet to call first. They sell different sizes of these, also in green too. Fairly priced. Ill be going through there in a day or two. Hell maybe I'll walk down there today.
