Volunteering with the DPW
Volunteering with the DPW
Does the DPW need volunteers post-burn?
I've emailed [email protected] but haven't got a response (I guess they're busy right now :-). I don't have any particular skills aside from not being an idiot and having the time to hang around on the playa for a month after the event.
Also, anyone who's had first-hand experience being out there long term: what's it like? Do volunteers bring all their own food? How do you wash your smalls? That kind of thing.
Cheers, Robert.

The reason it is a little late in the year, well, a LOT late in the year, is the BMORG must pay a fee to the BLM for each person who remains on the playa post-event. Already been budgeted. Theme camps can't just stay, even they get rousted soon after. Yes, after Exodus, they come knocking on the tent to get folks to leave.

i can think of no finer gift to give to the playa than to stick around after the music is over and return her to the way it was.
i would love to stay on the playa and clean her up for next year, because, after all, it was better.
c'mon hippies, you know you want to....what were you going to do that was so important anyway? Phollow Phish?
answer all your twits, i mean tweets?
work for pieces of paper?
or a labor of love.
the choice is yours.....
ps. any and all hippies found in and around the gate after exodus will immediately become property of the DPW for one year.
dont worry, you'll get fed, and chances are they'll have the bananas that you like, so don't sweat it.
oh, and all the dust you could possibly ever want, and i mean that in a dry lake bed way, not a chemical up your nose kinda way, so dont go there, unless you are willing to purify the shit and smoke it...
Like goathead and his little rocks of "crack"...
oh god, i just made a funny.

DPW is hard-core.......They don't wear smalls. Commando is the way. that's prolly why you got no response.ratkins wrote:Does the DPW need volunteers post-burn?

Aha. This is why I am seeking the boot of enlightenment up my arse which I'm sure a stint with the DPW would provide :-).
Are there any other organisations, on-playa or off, who are seeking volunteers after the event?
Cheers, Robert.
(And btw, ristretto. If you're going to drink coffee, drink *coffee*)

fuck, i haven't worn smalls for god knows how long, and where we come from, we spell it "kommando".
i used to be asleep, but then i woke up naked, and didn't need no stinkin underwear.
tighty whiteys are for pussies.
boxers only ride up and give you that stupid gangsta look, which is fine on the streets, but on the playa, not very practical or comfy.
just my two cents.
