Favorite spray sunscreen
I get lots of sun out there. There isn't much between me and the sun most of the day...
So what should I use to keep me from turning me into a fried cricket? I didn't have any problem last year but I made friends with a new fangled "spray on sunscreen" which I'd never used before and may have changed my life for ever.
What do you use? Do you have a favorite brand?
(oops, wrong forum, anybody want to move it for me?)

Crunchy
Fried bullfrog. Hmmm. Never had it. I like the price of that stuff. Do you use their spray product yourself? Do you taste good?
Fried crickets taste great but I don't really want to become one. Not a good long term plan anyway.

Well, I don't get crispy unless I do something really dumb.. ...like spend 8 hours stoned out of my mind watching people in storm trooper suits talk to people who look like blue meanies discussing the boat driving up behind me that is filled with topless women and bottomless men as I try to remember where I left all my clothing...
Ummm. I'd just rather not die of skin cancer... so $9 for sun screen seems like a good investment. And $9 for spray on sunscreen sounds like a good and easy investment which I'm likely to be capable of using while in any state of mind.
I don't need the goth level SPF 90 stuff (although the zinc would make their beautiful translucent skin almost glow in the bright playa sun).. I'm just looking for something normal. Ideally that doesn't cost very much and doesn't feel or smell all that weird.

i use the neutrogena cooling mist spray too, they have it from like 35 -70, i use the 70 for all day goodness (white to red with anything else) and its super easy to put on, plus it doesnt feel like you're wearing sunscreen, no greasy. and it smells great too!

Coppertone Sport push spray (not aerosol).
Suggested by an umpire.
Said it's the only thing that holds up.
Works great.
A spray is good for ears etc that are hard to coat.
And yes you need to coat shaded areas.
Or find out the hard way how reflective the playa is.
I haven't tried the neutrogena yet.

Got a question for the hairy men.....
When using spray sunscreen on yer arms and such do you rub it in to get the sunscreen past the hair? or do you just leave it?
On another note:
if you leave the bottle of spray sunscreen in the heat, it turns into some solid thing inside, still sprays for a little bit but i was wondering if anyone has noticed this/has a fix

Good point; I am switching to Pam.bm_cricket wrote:Do you taste good?
Now that all the serious answers are out of the way.
Aerosol or push spray?
Rub it in.
For any dry skin, I use neutrogena body emulsion fragrance free.
They have some with spf, but with perfume.
They say all take time to start working.
I have to rarely reapply the sport coppertone (squeeze spray, not aerosol).
Best I've used.
Not cheap, but the bottle lasts.

Consumer Reports said the Neutrogena Cooling Mist with Helioplex is best - I concurr having used it a lot. I have been hospitalized twice in my life with severe sunburn so good protection is essential. I've been able to do river rafting, ocean kayaking, etc and never got so much as pink using the Neutrogena just with one daily application.
I don't like anything with Parsol in it. I also heard a news report that the Helioplex is very good for skin as it has particularly good anit-aging properties.

Hey Guy……thanks for this post…….
As a person who has had Basal Cell Carcinoma cut off my nose; then had the Doctor stretch (that’s right stretch) the skin of my nose to be able to cover what he just cut out…….The worst part (yes, worse than having your nose skin stretched) was when I went back to the same Dr. to have him “Buffâ€

Fill up a spray bottle with hippo sweat, you'll be good to go.

Actually, Mister Potato Head makes a good point, as usual.Boijoy wrote:and, when applying spray sunscreen in a wind storm, have a friend spray it about 5' upwind from you.
The wind makes sprays hard to use.
Find a friend and have them schmear it on you.
Lacking a friend, hold a stranger at the point of a potato, and threaten them with incabulation if they do not schmear it on you.
There was once a sunscreen camp. Is it still on operation?

Do you prefer a good olive oil, or can you get away with using plain ole margarine to get your potato skin nice and golden?Boijoy wrote:and, when applying spray sunscreen in a wind storm, have a friend spray it about 5' upwind from you.
Excuse me Ma'am, your going to feel a small prick.

I just came back from Destin, FL and used the Neutrogena aresol SPF 45. Worked pretty well but I still had to rub it in though because I'm kinda of hairy. And no matter how long the can stayed in the sun it was still cold as hell when I sprayed it on my skin. I'm fair skinned and would still apply a second coat to just be safe. No burning whatsoever.
