nice mix
Hey dude nice mix. I went to tribal gathering 95 i think. it was in oxfordshire and it was definately the shit. anyway. I brought tables out to the playa last year and had fun, but I have found that most places do have tables anymore, they just have mp3/cd player set ups. It will take some searching to find some place to play, I would reccomend doing so early in the week, as set lists are usually pretty full thurs-sun. Go out make friends and then say hey dudes i've got some vinyl wanna hear some kick ass tunes. Just a thought. I don't even try and spin anymore on playa, its just more fun to let others do that and wander from place to place, but I understand the desire. Curiousgnate
cheers for the advice Curiousgnate.
I guess I'll just chat to people when I'm there and see what comes of it. Like you, I'm quite happy just dancing to the music, rather than playing it, but I would like to just play some of my records to see how they go down.
Like you say: vinyl is getting pretty rare. It will always look a lot cooler than twiddling on a laptop though

Hey Ockia,
I think it's a great idea to want to bring this type of music because there is a severe lack of it out there. I'm listening to you're set atm and it's proper banging....definitely feeling that warehouse sound! Reminds me of the sounds of Space Djs, Dave Clarke, James Ruskin and Ben Sims all in one! Nice one!
On the other hand, I brought out my vinyl twice and I don't think I'll ever do it again unless I have my own system to play on. There's just no guarantee that you will get to play and you might end up bringing the precious (and heavy) vinyl out there for nothing. I would, however, bring cd's out there...i love to play vinyl first and foremost but for the convenience factor cd's are the way to go, and you don't risk ruining your records. Although I think if you keep them covered and out of the sun they will be fine...it worked for me.
But these sounds would rock the playa!

yea - nice mix man!
i hope you find a system to play on - i would love to shake my thing to this sound on the playa!
its difficult to find that beat out there. plenty of lame west coast house and boring minimal is infecting everything, even the playa; and the breaks are not as funky as they used to be.
please def PM me to let me know about your whereabouts out there, even if you don't play.
cheers

glad some people enjoyed the mix!
if anyone wanted to be directed to similar stuff then this is a fave of mine by a Dj called Anita:

Yeah, I defo think this kind of techno would go off. I've got more havin it banging stuff too, that I've played to people in strictly dubstep/dnb crowds who have never heard proper techno before and they have loved it - people just need to be exposed to it in a club/party/rave environment
Anyway, roll on end of August
