Disc golf on the playa?
Hey! Any disc golfers going to the playa this year? Maybe more importantly, is anyone bringing a basket? I'll be bringing my discs...hoping to have something to throw them at :)

Missing the point...
Radical Self Reliance...yeah, I get it...and have every time I've been on the playa. That's why I WASN'T asking about:
- Water
- Food
- Shelter/Shade Structures
- Transportation
- or anything else I'm capable of doing myself.
Disc golf baskets hardly fall under "Radical Self Reliance". And if I had one to bring myself...I wouldn't be asking about it on here.
Presumption is a terribly quality in anyone.

Welcome Standingstill to Eplaya.
Baskets must be secured against the desert winds. If you're thinking of chain posts, they may be too heavy to transport. Try target posts or pars between street sign posts. If you put down milk crates or laundry baskets, some burners might think they are obtainium.
Your camp could just set up a large bullseye target so participants/passersby could give it a fling for a small treat or gift.
You might try your " Burning man Frisbee Open " on the outer rings which are less populated. I've seen bowling alleys, golf courses, hockey rinks, and other sports related camps...Good luck!

I'd love to play. I'll bring a couple disks, just in case there's a course, but like you, I can't bring a course..... this time.
My only suggestion would be to forgo the awesome chain baskets and just do the tonal pole type course. I realize it's not as cool, but it's probably 100 times more practical on the playa. Just pound them in, and off you go.
The whole concept of frolf on the playa is hilarious since half the fun of frolf is the water traps, trees, and other obstacles. A frolf "course" on the playa would simply just be a bunch of line drives and putts. Hilarious!

Heavy on preparations, light on expectations.

Yeah, I was thinking if there was only one hole, that the open desert would be cool do do a walking one hole thing. That way you could walk near some installations and play around/over under (assuming that the thingy could withstand/not be damaged by flying discs. Just think of a fire hazard!!!!
I am down.
--Perpetual Dome Builders--I'll be there with my practice basket.
