Water sources near Gerlach, Fernley or Reno?
Water sources near Gerlach, Fernley or Reno?
Is there any place between Reno & Gerlach to get about 350 gallons of potable water, maybe more? We're 15 virgins in 2 MoHo's towing trailers with tanks and loads of apparent essentials. I'd love to minimize the distance I have to tow 3000lbs!

At the Love's in Fernley in 2006, they took the hose away after we used it to put a few gallons in our camper. I asked if he wanted us to pay for the water because we would have been glad to. Since then the hose has been removed before we got there.
In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer.

NO!NO! NO! Not enough for everyone who wants it. I watch burners at the non-potable spigot at Love's every year. Cheap and thoughtless, water is a precious commodity. Buy it or haul it further.dvd-r wrote:Check Fernley, I am sure the gas stations have potable water.
And then I saw Deb's post. Seems like Love's has wised up. They don't have enough water in that tank to sell to that many burners.

That's a lot of water. Going to evap off that much? Because it will be heavier as grey water, and you have to pack it out .... oh. Pay the Jots guys to suck it up. Yeah, I hope you have a back up plan.
Makes me curious, why so much water? Even for 15 people, that seems excessive. But then, we don't do toilets, sinks or showers, we're minimalists.
I want to know how it all works out, just curious how the other half lives.

With RV use, 3 gallon per person is pretty good. Not too much at all.
My wife and I run about 60 gallon for the 8 days which is close to 4 g/day.
We could get by with much less but my lady likes her showers and baths.
After my feeble attempt to convince my princes to conserve, I decided this battle was not worth fighting. Easy enough to bring an extra few water bottles. My truck can take it.

40 gallons in my RV heading to the burn from out east is killing my climbs, especially the park city area of slc (hi anti-m
ended up barely climbing at 35 mph. Would def like to fill up near Fernley next time. Currently in Wendover.
Excuse me Ma'am, your going to feel a small prick.

Forty gallons kills your RVs climbing abbilities? None of my business but I wonder what "descanis" is driving to be able to haul 350 gallons which is almost 3,000lbs, not to mention 15 people at lets say an average of about 150lbs appice is another 2200 plus pounds, not to mention gear, food, supplies, bikes etc. Unless he's hauling it in a water dog which is basiclly a plastic water tank mounted on a trailer with a pump, a hose bib and some have even sprayers like the water trucks have. A regular fire engine only holds 500gals.
