1st Annual Sacred Visions Pow-Wow - Wadsworth

Post by Pyramid Lake Woman » Fri Jul 24, 2009 11:38 pm

FYI....just in case any burners happen to be in the area of Wadsworth.....The 1st Annual Sacred Visions Pow-Wow is going on this weekend at Big Bend which is right off the main road coming into the reservation from Fernley. It is free to the public, a permanent arbor has been made, so all you have to do is bring your lounge chair and find a spot underneath the arbor, for shade.

Friday night the Grand Entry was at 7pm
Saturday morning, Grand Entry is at 11:00am
Sunday morning same time.......

There are dance competitions in the different mens and womens categories, as well as the occassional inter-tribal dance, and maybe even a round dance or two?

This is a drug and alcohol free event, and is really a sight to see. There are Native American Dancers of all ages, from tiny tots to the golden ages. There are a lot of drum groups, and there are quite a few vendors out there this weeked, if your looking for beads, beaded jewelry, artwork, etc.

If you go with a camera, and want to get a picture of the dancers, please make sure you ask the individual first.

Thanks for taking the time to read this post....sorry there's such short notice.....
