i made some bowls this last week.
made something i told myself long ago that i would not make... an ashtray, but a friend has been asking for one for about 4-5 years now.
just a little closer to a complete studio.
been playing with my power tools a little, practicing for the time to build the form for reduction kiln.
if only i had my own personal government bailout.

Tisha.... {{{SPROING!!!}}}

um, yeah, the whole infrastructure for a studio is pricey... so i've come to learn.

i hope to be mocking up the arch form, then the base, opening, back sides, burner ports and chimney in the order.

but being able to bisque fire has been a hurdle nicely jumped this summer.

yes but it's worth the investment.

I am trying to do this whole carving with the $20 wood carving knife.

But like everything you need more and better tools to do production.

oh Mozy....that 'sketty' looks good.......

hey,
I"ve done some wood carving, fairly intricate, with my sandblaster.......you might want to try that.........if you wanna come up, we can draw a stencil and try it.......sandblast carving wood looks pretty cool, since, it raises the grain lines in the removed areas..........
cool patterns there, too.

nice day:

Lf makes me a party, Mozy makes "sketty"........nice folks.......ahhhh,
how much better does it get?

-slides in through the backdoor-

ahhh, that's the thing!
Back me hearties, to the ship I goes.
-slips out the backdoor-

Hoo boy, am I uncomfortable with that name. Wrong on at least two levels.
I am sure there are all sorts of drink names that are not PC enough for you.

But then we are all DOOMED.
I really try to avoid PC prissiness. You'll notice I only talked about how I felt, not try and get anyone else to feel badly or change the name. Depending on age it could be left over from a time where racism was more acceptable. I do think we have a responcibility to honor the damage our past behavior has caused. I don't think getting namby-pamby about language is much help. Tends to cover up the root causes. Oh well.
