Things you guys want at the store
Hi everybody! I have been really busy and been on here infrequently with not even time to read much less post, but, I need AND WANT your input...What kind of stuff can we bring in to stock for you???
I have a lot of suggestions from the Empire Store thread and I will have that stuff for you. WHAT ELSE??? This is stocking time!
Orders will be placed this week and I really don't want to leave off something important!
Like VINEGAR...I just heard the other day...this is the only thing that you can wash the playa off your feet with???
I am a playa virgin! Haven't a clue what it takes to survive (comfortably)out there for a week. I would manage but I would rather have a good "Heads Up".
So...POST UP!!! If it is within reason and we can get it...we'll try to stock some for you!
Yes Shambala...we will have SlimJims! And Turkey Jerkey for AntiM.
Give it up folks...the shopping starts tomorrow!
Oh yeah...Thanks~~~
I'll see you soon! I think I will be on the BBQ cooking. Not 100% sure though!

Inside every older person is a younger person wondering, "What the Hell happened?"
Stuff I think I would do well for people who forgot this type of last minute stuff. You may already sell some of it. It's just crap that people forget and really need/want.

We haul most of our stuff in, having bought it on base. But folks forget things. The trick is competing with the truckstops in Fernley, carry what they do not:
Electrolyte drink powders and instant tea in the single serving packets.
Salsa. Green chile salsa for those of us allergic to tomatoes?
drinks in plastic bottles such as fuze, snapple water and vitamin water, or sobe lifewater. I know the throw away bottles are bad, but better than glass. I prefer those drinks on the playa myself, don't know who else might like them.
Pepsi throwback, the full sugar soda. I only drink full sugar sodas without the preservatives in them...
Booze in plastic containers. The real cheap stuff comes in plastic.
Juices, again, in plastic, like cranberry and orange for mixers.
camelbak/hydration pack parts and bladders?
Colorful duct tape? I'm thinking pink and camo, LOL.
reusable water bottles? Sippy cups with lids? Travel mugs? cheap ones, of course.
Socks? and foot creams for people with playa foot
Aloe vera, a good organic brand
Sunblock and spray sunblock. maybe an organic brand too. Some of this crowd leans toward "natural" products. Lip balm, Or at least lip balm leashes.
Those little bottles of hand sanitizer in tiny pouches to hang on packs.
Obviously with some items, you wouldn't stock a ton, like the aloe vera.
Oh, and THANK YOU for the shirt! I love it!
You need Empire Store shirts, you'd definitely sell a few.

The main thing is to stock what people will buy on the way in; that they forgot. Or it is easier to wait until the last minute to buy? Or things that the early arrival people will be willing to drive out and get; like ice?
Lots of good ideas mentioned.
Hummmm...trying to think of things that aren't JUST for BM.
Bike locks
Bananas
Tomatoes
other veggies
Bungee cords?
1lb propane
Hats
I am usually pretty stocked when I arrive, but I often stop at the store on my way to BM, for one last ice cream and a cold drink.

Playawaste Raiders and Megaton Bar and Grill
Wearable blinkies with replaceable batteries.
Chap stick.
Nasal saline with moisturizer.
Good gaffer's tape.
Fluorescent tape.
Reflective tape.
(Get the diamondstripe and sell it by the foot.)
Available from 1" wide up.
Kicks ass and will be working next year.
Goggles that fit over glasses.
Might be expensive to stock, but they will sell if they are good.
3 watt and 1 watt headlamps.
I suggest Brinkmann if you can get them.
The switch on my 3-watt is finally failing after 3 years of constant use.
And enable your email and we can send some links direct.
Locks for generators might be a good idea, though hard to stock initially.

Also Mountain Dew throwback, the full sugar soda. Like Anti M, I only drink full sugar sodas without the preservatives in them and I prefer the Dew. Gotta have the Dew.
I'll be stopping in to get that patch that you're hunting up for me. Also an Empire tshirt - if you got some mediums for us smaller people that would be nice or specifically a woman's tshirt.
I like to get the BM calendar there too, usually on my way out.
Love the fresh food from the deli. Those sandwiches are great!
Also besides bungees, if you stock some lengths of rope, I got some there one year because we'd left it at home. Doesn't have to be big lengths - comes in a plastic bag and has maybe 10' or 20' - whatever the wholesaler has.
Tent pegs.
Corkscrews, in case someone forgot. I like to pick up a bottle of red wine or two when I'm there.
Good variety of mixes. I like Canada Dry ginger ale with my Canadian whiskey but it's not that common to find ginger ale out that way.
Marlboro Ultra Light 100s.
And do only what you can with the resources that you have. Some of the odd stuff, only get a few of. We don't want you stuck with stuff all winter.
And happy smiles from your family and staff, that's always cool.

Deb, I have sad, sad news for you. Even the throwback Dew has preservatives, mainly sodium benzoate. Nasty stuff, makes me sick as a dog. Most ginger ales have it too, I've gone to Blue Sky or Hansen's, but dang, that's expensive soda. Any soda with citrus in it almost always has sodium/potassium benzoate unless you're buying an organic or natural brand.Deb Prothero wrote:Also Mountain Dew throwback, the full sugar soda. I'm trying to think of essentials that might have been left at home.
rope
batteries
campbells chicken noodle soup
chapstick
sunscreen
bandanas
plastic mugs with cover and a handle that is an attached loop (so they could be fastented to something like a pack or belt)
