Welcome to eplaya McKF.
First and foremost Burning Man is a lesson in Survival. It is a harsh environment that is not to be taken lightly. Read the First Timers Guide and the Survival Guide, many, many times. The logistics of a trip to the burn can be daunting, but can be accomplished with careful preparation.
Do you camp? That kinda experience helps. How do you plan to get to the burn? Flying? Then you need to acquire both transpo from the airport to the burn, not to mention obtaining a bulk of your supplies tween airport and BRC. Gonna roadtrip it with buds? Then y'all gotta figure out how much stuff you can take with you.
Yes, its possible to join a camp. But, with time short, you need to do it NOW. Many camps will be filled already. But it is one good way to not have to worry so much about infrastructure.
I don't want to turn you off to the idea, just to make sure that you understand this is a trip not to be taken lightly. You need to go into it eyes wide open, and understanding all that it takes to survive and enjoy the burn.
The burn is like nothing else, and if and when you make it you will understand. But it's better that you can walk away from it in one piece, hooked for life, then to go out there unprepared and be miserable, and walk away vowing to never put yourself through that again.
Hope you enjoy your stay in our little dysfunctional country. Cheers!

I would suggest that you read all of these, WELL. Then sit back and think about it and make the decision if you really want to make it happen. It's going to take a lot of scrambling on your part to get there and be prepared for it. It's your responsibility to be able to take care of yourself and your needs out there. No one likes or respects leeches. The only reason I say that is in response to your lack of resources. It takes a lot to get there and be ready for it. Good luck and hope to see you in the dust.

Another thing to consider, aside from the dedication required, is the monetary investment. Not just the $300 ticket, but all the prep supplies, food, travel/gas, appropriate clothing, etc- it really adds up.
I just bring it up because although it was something I took into consideration when I made the commitment, I don't think I took it seriously enough. I think I've already put in $6-700, and I'm not near done and haven't even bought food. I'm positive it will be worth it, and I don't want to be discouraging at all, but it's just one more thing to keep in mind.
Regardless, do it and love it and I'll see you on the Playa!

You can pick your friends, and you can pick your nose. But you shouldn't pick your friend's nose.
