Not sure what a Grape Flavored Dick is? Let's ask OED. He might know. Sounds like a popsicle drink!
Santana is one of my all time favourites. Thanks for sharing that salsa.
Maybe that's what's making you sneeze? Getting worked up on the music!
Off to do some more painting today. The sun is shining here!

Goin' to get some painting in shortly then off to see KA at 3:30. Hope all is well there today. We chatted for an hour last night. I think it's all good.
That looks like a nice ale. Is it local? Haven't seen it before.
The beer is out of Erie, Pennsylvania, not really local, but not far either.
It's going to be alright.

Hi Sputnik;
Think I'll join you in a beer. KA and I had a great afternoon. We decided to spend four hours doing a good deed for another burner. We had fun too. James will be in shock when he gets home tomorrow!
Haven't repaired Aluminet but it is a knit fabric so there is a waft and weave. Should be easy to take a needle and fishing line to join the two sides of the tear back together. How big a tear is it?

Oh that's nice, James is kinda like a brother to her....last I knew the place needed a good going over and I don't expect it's gotten any better in the past year or so.Deb Prothero wrote:Hi Sputnik;

As for the aluminet, I was thinking about sewing a big patch over the area on both sides. it's about a foot around (that's about 30cm for you canucks). A friend of mine has a large sewing machine, so that might work. But yeah, some fishing line might be all I really need. I just don't want to tear it again.
Here's a nice scotch ale. I think it's big enough for you two to split and then we'll crack another.
It's going to be alright.

Yep, James' place is sparkling! He has been good to both KA and I. James has his head on straight when it comes to seeing other people's problems and he always has such great big bear hugs! We wanted to do something for him.
As for your Aluminet problem, can you take a picture of the tear and send it? Depending on where it is you might be able to do it with a machine by zigzagging. The only trouble with that is that the width of the zigzag stitch might not be wide enough to capture the weave strongly enough on each side. You might be better off to do it by hand to be sure that you grab part of the weave that is still a strong part of the fabric. Just zigzag back and forth to pull it together.

I've been remiss in keeping in touch with James. I'll have to ping him and see what's up. I have to assume he's not going to the burn this year.Deb Prothero wrote:Yep, James' place is sparkling! I'll have to do the pic another time, it's out in the garage and all rolled up right now. I do have a line on a large format industrial type machine, so I may just take an evening and a few yards of fabric, sew up the hole and add some other bits to it. It's 70% shade, but that still lets through a lot of sun oddly enough. It might be nice to have shadier spots here and there.
It's going to be alright.

Last I talked to James about it he was going to the burn. With this new contract though his plans may have changed. He was having a hard time finding a contract then this one dropped in his lap but its in Wisconsin so there's lots of travel time. He flies in tomorrow night.
Good luck with the sewing machine idea - it should work if you're patching with fabric. Use a zigzag stitch around the outside edge of your patch so you catch more than one weave thread of the Aluminet. Doing that will also prevent the fabric from mooping threads if it catches in the wind.

Little Flower and Sputnik;
The painting project is actually putting a new fiberglas gel coat on my trailer. It takes four coats and you have to sand between each coat and let each coat cure for a couple days. And you have to mix the paint with a special liquid that hardens the coating. It's a bit more involved than just painting.
All the rain has been a real pain because I couldn't apply the next coat when I should have and curing wasn't going exactly as planned.
Nonetheless, it's starting to look marvelous. I'm going to be quite proud of it when it's done.

Damn...I am glad that in America we have fiberglass gel that only requires one coat.
Sputnik :
If you patch your hole and add some more shade with some 50% shade aluminet, you will have 120 % shade.
Use Goop, fuck all that sewing, you might poke yourself through the finger.
