Beer/Soda Can Storage on Playa

Post by z276 » Fri Jul 31, 2009 4:38 pm

We want to take cans of beer and soda to the playa. We do not want them to heat up to the point that they'll blow open or such. Does anyone have any feedback on issues, solutions, info?? Thank you.

I don't think it gets hot enough out there to blow up the cans. They won't blow up from just laying around in the shade, even in the heat of the day. I don't think they'd even blow up if left in the sun in the middle of the day. If you're worried, just put it in the shade, and put into cooler when you desire.

I live in Phoenix. It gets much hotter than BRC and I've only seen cans almost explode, to the point where the top and bottom pushes out, but never to the point of it busting. They were sitting in a hot car in the middle of the summer. I'm sure they eventually would explode...but again the car was probably easily 140 degrees inside. Thankfully BRC only gets into the low 100's at the hottest.

I'd be more worried about the beer getting ripped off.....

Bad people can and do buy tickets to Burning Man.. If you can't afford to lose it, don't bring it...

We just stack them in the shade structure or in the trailer with a sheet or throw over them to keep the worst of the dust off, then we put them into the coolers as needed. You can buy ice, we do every two or three days.

And yes we hide the beer and booze from casual sight.
