Depends.

I'm fine with a scarf but another of my camp mates has to use a particulate filter or else she has an asthma attack when the dust blows up.

No shame in protecting yourself against the toxic conditions out there. Dust protection is the one area where I am not ashamed to be more prepared than my friends.

I have a gas mask I'm thinking of bringing, but I'm not sure I'd want to waste using the actual filter at burningman. :-)

I highly doubt you'd want to keep it on very long.

All you really need is the dust masks with exhale valves: http://www.google.com/search?client=saf ... 8&oe=UTF-8 This model is the most comfortable. Goggles help too if the dust really kicks up.

Wearing a mask for a hour or so each day and when riding the bike makes a big difference in how I feel after the week is over.

If it is a dusty year, plan on using up 1-2 per day.

Depends may be a good idea to filter the dust. The little stick on tabs can adhere to the side of your face and the pad will absorb moisture from your breath. Good call Cap!

Are you sure that isn't an athletic cup?
