Now that i've read the whole thread, I have to take back my last post. Sorry JPD. However I will say I don't agree with all the ACLU does, some good some are friviolous. As for publishing your number ect. It shows that your are a stand up guy and willing to debate with those who disagree.

ACLU AT PLAYA INFO

The Nevada Chapter of the ACLU will be at Playa Info to answer any
questions you may have about interacting with law enforcement in Black
Rock City. If you want to know what to do if you happen to be stopped
for questioning by law, enforcement then come on by. Received a
citation? Come on by.

Hours:
Tuesday through Thursday: 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM
Friday through Monday: 12:00 Noon to 9:00 PM

That's good news that the ACLU will be there and I think I'm happier that it's the Nevada chapter rather than the SF one.

Still the argument stands, in my opinion, against the type of activity that was proposed. All we had to go on initially was the eBay auction. No one here said anything dreadful about the ACLU, in fact most of us indicated broad support for their activities.

With more information from JPB, we now know that it's the person who bought this at an SF ACLU silent auction who put it up on eBay.

I think this discussion achieved the necessary thing of protecting our community from commercialization, stopping the auction AND we were able to inform JPB about a rather unsavoury character trying to resell this.

It all came out in the wash and without anyone being really antagonistic. We can all walk up to the ACLU at the burn and offer them a pat on the back and look them straight in the eye, I think, if we're so inclined.
