Ohio Newbie w/ Burning Man on his Bucket List

Post by GoVFR » Sun Aug 02, 2009 3:46 pm

I have an opportunity to be in the Northwest/Nevada area during the Burning Man Festival and have had it on the bucket list for several years. I probably will only be able to make it for a couple of days and of course I would like that to include Saturday night for the burn.

Wondering if anyone out there would be able to act as Burning Man guide/host to semi-retired professional with zest for life and abiding interest in momentous occasions like Burning Man.

I need to be in Bend, OR on September 9th or 10th? and will be working on connections to fly in to Bend or Portland - or possibly Reno/Tahoe.

Thank you for any advice or offers.

Dan

Welcome Ohio newbie!
Buy youself a tent and sleeping bag and don't forget the ticket. Read the first timers guide and make this a reality for youself.
A few years back, I found an older businessman passing by our camp and he was really unprepared for the desert. His dress shoes and button down shirt gave him away. I gave him water, some food and helped him with his bearings of where he parked his car and sent him off to see the man. I never heard from him again, but he seemed to be ready to see and do all this event had to offer. You have the chance to prepare for nearly a month more than he did, so just go for it and I assure you that you won't regret it.
See you on the playa.

Dan, it's DIY. I hope that doesn't dissuade you. I agree with Shambala, you have time to do the research and have what you need. You can make it happen.
