Seeking aviator with room for 3 passengers Portland to Playa

Post by Heather "Bomb-Ass& » Sun Aug 02, 2009 5:41 pm

Hello aviators!

I hope that sending this message to all of you is OK and that this works...it was the best way I could glean from various sources and researching how to fly as a passenger to Burning Man! Please let me know if there are better or more effective ways to find and contact y'all.

I am looking for space for three people to fly from the Portland, Oregon area to the Playa with an aviator who is flying out of anywhere in Oregon or Washington (preferably Portland/Vancouver (WA)-Salem-Eugene area) to the Burn and, ideally, who is making a short but sweet trip (say, Thursday, Friday or Saturday through Sunday or Monday). The group of three could conceivably be split into 2 and 1, if someone has room for only two people or one person--as long as they all get there.

Your passengers would be veteran burners, uber-contributors and stellar humans Kurt (DJ Global Ruckus, whose presence on the Playa has been requested by many), his newlywed wife Sija (of Black Rock Ranger, Airport Customs, MonkeyPuzzle, Woonami Village and the Mobile Groove Bomb notoriety) and Matty V., (also of MonkeyPuzzle/Bomb Squad/Mobile Groove Bomb renown, and my sweetie who I met on Burn night last year-it would be our anniversary (awww!)).

Due to reality-based challenges, these three wonderful Burners were going to have to miss the Burn this year. But if you have the ability, space and inclination, they could circumvent these annoying hurdles (time, money, work...) and make it to the Burn! In a timely, amazing, stylish/rock star fashion, no less. Of course, fuel costs and expenses would be gladly compensated.

Please advise via e-mail if you are this special hero, or if you have any helpful information, ideas and/or advice about getting these deserving people out to the Playa.

Many thanks,

Heather "Bomb-Ass" Baker

Do they have someone to take their supplies to the burn?

Travelling light!

Post by Heather "Bomb-Ass& » Sun Aug 02, 2009 6:47 pm

Yes, they will be traveling light with hardly any stuff. We want them there so much, we'll make it happen and can transport gear other ways.

Know of anyone who's into it?

Crossing fingers....

I think you might want to start your search here, https://lists.burningman.com/mailman/li ... ators-list

rather then here.

Already done...just wanted to cover any and all bases.

Is this the wrong place, do you think, or is it OK to post my message here?

Thanks, Token!
I've already requested a quote from them, but fear it's probably out of financial range as the Reno-BRC shuttle is priced at $420 round trip...
Still crossing my fingers-it could happen!

$420 round trip? That seems pretty damned reasonable actually.

Their website quoted the Reno shuttle at $420...but then, I just got an e-mail from them saying $1300 per hour + fees. Maybe it ends up being 420 but it sounds like they charge per charter.

Unfortunately for my friends (but fortunately for Advantage Flight Solutions!), they are booked up almost to capacity, so they're only doing the shuttle-no other departure options!
