5 hard workers for the gift of 2 early access

Post by sarahbellum911 » Mon Aug 03, 2009 3:14 pm

So we have 3 passes but our vehicle has 5 riders. We are all willing to offer up our services as gimps, gopher, pack mules or general construction for 2 passes. We will appear with smiles, help however you need us to help then vanish off into the desert around 11pm Sunday to await the mighty gate opening. We can then reapear the following Sunday to help with moop cleanup, teardown or for what ever else you may need extra hands.

Hi Bells,

You do understand that each early entry pass has a scan code that is matched to a real name and the pass is only good if the associated name matches the ID of the person holding the pass.

i. e. YOU CANNOT SCAM THE SYSTEM.

I suggest you work on plan B, get your two passangers alternative rides to the event when it opens.

Thanks for the heads up Token.

It's my understanding that the theme camp passes have not yet been issued and the names have not yet been collected. It is not my intention to scam the system simply to provide an opportunity for anyone still looking for help.

They stopped doing the name thing 2 years ago, I think.

I wasn't required to show I.D. last year, nor were names even requested this year.(or last year?)

If you are the person that registers the camp/village, you are given the whole stack, and it is up to you to pass them out.

Ah. My bad then. I was on an art build with early entry and it was tied to my name.

So, curious,Sarah, how did you get early entry passes without being on a themecamp/art project build crew??

And can we trust them to deliver on their promise when they aren't doing whatever work it was they implied they were going to do when they got those first three passes?

Sounds like they're working the gate or greeters for the opening.

Our passes had names and required ID last year. Perhaps there are different types. Ours were not theme camp passes.

This issue of cars with some people having passes and others without comes up a lot when you're not close by. (as in 2000 miles away)
There are often not other rides to choose from.
Some better solution needs to be found.
Perhaps charging for early entry for those who don't have passes?
It often happens that a group has early entry, but for different times.
This is an issue for me or other people I might go with, almost every year.

Why? You're still accommodating the stupid, the clueless and those who'd try gaming the system. When/if the message ever gets out that 'no' means 'no' then eventually - when jellybeans rain from the sky and unicorns shit gummy bears - people will finally 'get' it.

My vote is for holding pens in Sparks and Fernley.

This is an issue every year for me.
Last year, it ultimately kept me from finding anyone matching to ride with, so with $4 gallon gas, I stayed home.
Someone else worked my shifts.

Will I be able to find a matching traveler this year?

If the driver is going in later than me, I skip the early work.
If they are going in earlier, I camp outside the gate.
I'm willing to do that, but it is very stupid.

Easy to dismiss this when you live in the neighborhood and there is always another car going on the right day.
My commute is 2100 miles +.
This issue actually keeps a lot of people from going.

My entry is currently for friday.
If I can't find any riders with a matching early entry, we won't go or some will be stuck outside for a bit.

It's more about getting the system to work.

If ou want to spend your vacation tanning, that's your issue. Except for the smell. I don't want to experience that.
