1st off, Bill is my Man..
But the deal was brokered behind the scene long before Bill got involved and that the short guy in North Korea wanted to look big to the world and need a figure head of great importance..
Gore was not that man and Hillery was not that man.. So Bill got the job...

I wish someone would write a book about one of these transactions. Just once I'd like to know how much it cost.
Sure Bill comes out smelling like a rose and that's fine because sending him got the job done and freedom for those two journalists. Although as someone else hinted the deal was done before Bill was sent - he was just the hired gun that Kim Jong Il would accept as high enough in stature to assuage his ego.
As for the sexist remarks about Clinton, I suspect he long ago learned his lesson and generally keeps his hands and other parts to himself.

I look at Current TV as Family. That makes those two reporters family.
Al Gore, Bill Clinton, got the job done.
thanks
here something someone might like.

yeah, I'm sure a life long sexual predator, mostly used to being immune to consequences, has changed...........giggle.......
I think a lot of it was set up, and, a lot of money paid, to get the most political "bang for the buck".......clinton, I'm sure, was part of the plan.
He is a master of politics.
Gore is just a dork who rides coat tails.......
I'm also of the opinion the journalists knew, for the most part, what they were doing and where they were, but, felt "immune" due to their status as journalists........
but, these are just my (cynical towards politicians) opinions......

Real life has happened. What is done is done. Instead of saying this is good, you find fault. Why do you have to find fault with eveything that Clinton or Gore do? Your opinion, although I guess it's good you have one, is founded on bullshit.
Bill Clinton and Al Gore are much better people then some of the folks who try and find fault with them. Gore has won the Nobel Peace Prize, what have you done? While Bill Clinton was president we prospered, while your pick to lead the country left us broke.
CRAPyeah, I'm sure a life long sexual predator, mostly used to being immune to consequences, has changed...........giggle.......
(and what is this giggle.. kinda strange, a grown man giggling all the time)
I know I shouldn't talk politics but I didn't not expect this reaction to these Current TV reporters being released. It's like some assholes think they should still be in jail in North Korea. BULLSHIT

I don't see anywhere in there that I say I'm not happy those reporters are free.
you may note, I state clearly that I am cynical towards politicians.......ergo, my suspicions as to the "real story"......and the political posturing and calculations involved in this and other sorts of "events"
Bullshit? you mean Clinton does not have a history of being a predator?
you mean Gore doesn't waste tons of energy and make money from strip mining and tobacco. while preaching "green" to the rest of us?
the Nobel peace prize, yeah, I'm sure that's a totally objective thing......
I have not derided the release of these people.
I also accept and acknowledge that Clinton, Gore, whomever, have good ideas and do good things.
My cynicism just doesn't allow that it's all altruistic.......
I know these are your hero's and, am not trying to attack you personally, although, it seems you take it as such.
In no part of my post do I state or imply I'd want these folks still to be captive.......
and, does "giggle" bother you? should I use "chuckle"? is that a better term. you know, that "chuckle" that a person uses when they can't quite believe what they just heard or read?
I do enjoy the exchange of ideas and opinions, and, even if disagreement ensues, certainly hope it's not personal.......I try to keep it off that table........
we can disagree and still have a drink and laugh at stuff, no?

I'm not one to ignore the possibility of political posturing. But it seems doubtful unless the North Koreans were in on it. Politicians hide behind desks--they don't put their life on the line. That's what soldiers from poor families are for.
I'm surprised that Kim, with his trademark incompetence and egomania, didn't try to hold Clinton hostage.
I don't trust politicians. In order to become one you need to owe more favors than a mobster. But I think Clinton was pretty brave going to get these people.

Peace, love, intellectual stimulation, and good times!
It was a done deal before Clinton ever got on the plane to North Korea.
Bill Clinton is too savvy a politician accept the trip otherwise.
Like an attorney once said, "never ask a question in court unless you already know the answer."
No pressure, but I am sure Bill let the two women know that that they
were welcome to "thank" him on the plane ride home.
