Post by Dubble » Sat Jun 20, 2009 1:14 am

Join BurnT, the Burning Man Toronto Community, for mOOseman '09 --- our 8th annual pre-Burning Man regional event! This year's celebration will be held for the first time ever over the August Civic Holiday long weekend from Friday, July 31st to Monday, August 3rd.

The event will take place at our fantastic new outdoor site located within a couple hours drive north of Toronto, Ontario. The exact location will be to event pARTicipants prior to the event.

Come join us to create ART, build community and play with fire!

Start getting involved now as one of the up to 300 pARTicpatants in what is surely to be the biggest and best outdoor BurnT event of the decade!

Please see the details below about admission fees, registration, volunteering and helping to create this amazing event. Just like with Burning Man the more *you* participate, the more you'll get out of this event. Really!

Also, be sure to check http://www.burnon.ca for up-to-the-minute updates about mOOseman.

:: Admission Fees and Registration ::

Admission fees have been set at levels that will allow us to cover the costs of a high quality production while remaining affordable. If the price of a regular admission is out of reach for you, please consider one of the other discounted admission levels.

No actual physical "tickets" will be issued. Instead all pARTicipants will simply register and provide some basic personal information (e.g., name, contact details, listing of allergies) at the time of payment. With this information we will build a list of pARTicipants that will be cross-referenced upon prior to entry to the event venue. This list will also be used to distribute event updates specific to participants prior to the event. Absolutely no personal information will be shared or used for anything other than event management.

The admission price tiers in Canadian funds are as follows:

- Regular Admissions (available to July 30, 2009): $65

- Early Bird Admissions (available for 3 weeks ONLY to June 30, 2009): $45

- A limited number of $25 "Hardship" Admissions will also be available to past BurnT pARTicipant volunteers. Please email [email protected] and state your case to apply for one of these admissions.

Note that no Admissions will be sold at the location. Please ensure you have your fees paid in advance and that you are registered before arriving at the gate.

Admission fees can be paid via:

http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/70462

You can also pay by cash or cheque. Please contact Anna our Admissions Adjutant at

[email protected]

for further information about these methods of payment.

mOOseman ’09 is an adult-oriented, Ontario age of majority event. No one under 19 years old will be admitted. Please be sure to read all of the following notes prior to purchasing admissions.

Notes:

- All admission sales are FINAL*.
- No admissions will be sold onsite.
- Only registered pARTicipants will be admitted.
- No pets.
- No commerce.
- No personal fires or fireworks.
- No weapons.
- No sketch.

- * Admissions fees may be transferred up to the last day of admission sales (July 30, 2009) WITH notification to the event organizers of the transfer AND submission of the registration questionnaire by the new buyer. Email [email protected] for transfers.

:: Get involved and get more out of the experience! ::

We are looking for all kinds of volunteers to help make our event greater than ever. Are you someone who likes to shape how the event is organized? Well we need event and team leads to step up into these roles. If you are interested in leading a team (e.g., leading the Leave No Trace effort, leading the ART grants and set up, theme camp placement, etc.), then please join our BurnT Events Planning Discussion List then click on join group (right hand side).

Once you are subscribed please check out this page to view the positions that need to be filled: mOOseman 2009 Volunteers.

:: Need help pulling your art together? Consider applying for an art grant. ::

If you have some snazzy idea about some cool piece of art (visual, performance, musical, etc.), and might need some financial assistance or people power getting it off the ground, send a description of your project with the associated costs to:

[email protected].

We have a limited budget, but what better place to spend that money than on YOUR fantastic creation?!

:: Plug in now and avoid missing out. ::

If you haven't yet subscribed to the periodic BurnT Announcement Newsletter, do so now by sending an introductory email message to [email protected]. Subscribe now and we'll keep you informed with occasional event updates and notices about other BurnT community activities.

What, you guys didn't get enough at Lake of Fire? ;-)

Someone told me that since we got Canadians to come down for LoF, we must be doing something right. I guess you guys are the shiznit.

Have fun at your regional. I'm gonna stick here in the Chicago heat/humidity. Yay!

UPDATE: mOOseman 2009 was a blast!

everything came together terrifically, despite a few snags here and there involving swine-fires and restless neighbours.

As my first festival, I had a mind-blowing time, and Im more stoked then ever to be in nevada this year!
