SLC = Salt lake city
E-11 = Element-11, Utah's regional burn
O-Town = Ogden, UT, crossroads of the west.

Thanks for clueing me in, Ranger Genius.

I've always found Utah to be a very unwelcoming state because as I drive on I 80 almost all the exits say "No Services". But I'm sure the people are fine, I just keep rolling on through because I'm afraid to get stuck somewhere with no fuel.

Then I pull off just before Wendover and get a meal at the Raceway Diner at exit #4.

There are a lot of towns called "No services" and "Ranch exit" round these parts.

For a stranger traveling through, it seems so inhospitable. I usually get fuel just south of SLC at one of the travel plazas. I think it's exit 99 then I head on through.

Hey someone call me?

Howdy ya'll back in the saddle again...

Had a ruff start of the day yesterday.....had to bang head against wall for a minute...or eight!

All better now...

Comes back to that poem upon which some christian person wrote...

Regardless of anyone's spiritual back ground its still VERY well written:

Gawd grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All better now, the picked scab will heal and the road pushes forward!

Now get outside and build something damnit!
Names pinemom, but my friends call me "Piney".

we are all fortunate you got treated and are here to lend you wit and wisdom to the eplaya family.

I hope the same for all.

Ok, ok.. i forgot you were in the tombstone business, so I am sure Yagmir knows this story, but do the rest of you..

Close to Anti M? Close to Anti M!? I could throw a shoe into his tent from mine. And no, we don't camp with Zion, too noisy. We camp in Hushville. And Genius IS one of the set-up campmates. Not me, that's fer sure.

yeah, you really gotta watch the docs........they mean well, but, you really have to be your own advocate.........they bury their mistakes..........(crude joke, I know)

so, for you and PM:

PM, ygmir was offering us a transfusion last night! Your blood is too thick and mine is so thin its running out my ear and my eye! So I proposed we mix it half and half!

Hopefully you're feeling better. Headaches are not a good sign after your little episode. Lots of people who have TIA have a real stroke within 3 months. Take care of yourself.

We all get to sign Ranger Genius' PINK cast! Someone might have to help him with set up though.

Ygmir, that tombstone story from wedeliver reminds me that I need to talk to you about a hunk of granite for my leatherwork. 12x12 and about 3/4" or 1" thick, polished one side. That's what I need to have for carving leather on. My piece cracked and I need a new one.

Simon, if you're bringing the good stuff to the playa, maybe we'll try out your theory. Pills I'm taking are not to make me happy but to keep from sinking too deep. I might be ready to come off them but don't want to risk it before I get home from the burn. Too many reminders of Caleb there.

Hope you enjoy your cross country scooter run!

actually deb, i NEVER carry with....that's just asking for trouble.

i am, after all, not stupid.

i do have my ways, of course, and will be amply supplied with the good stuff when i arrive.

which i will, of course share with my friends.

i will keep y'all posted on my meanderings via Boobtube, and hopefully not attract too much attention as i do my imitation of johnny burning seed, spreading little fires as i go...

ps. Deb....be not afraid of the depths....it is often where you will find the purest, cleanest, coldest water.

just remember to come up for AIR.

without the edges, the middle gets very very boring, and artists would have nothing to do.

Forgot to answer your question about snake bite drinks, ygmir

It's Yukon Jack (another Canadian whiskey) with a bit of lime juice. Kinda smarts like a snake bite too but that is a smoooth whiskey.

sounds good, Deb.
years ago, I came up with a drink, I call "the borders", Yukon Jack and tequila............yum........

the granite you want sounds pretty thin, are you hitting it very hard?

seems the ones I've made for others tend to be 2" or more.....but, I don't know anything about carving leather........just wearing, and, sometimes chewing, it.........grin............

yeah Snowah, carrying with can get you a vacation via the "round house"................as you may well know............

My god, man. You must have an iron gut!

depends on who I'm mad at.

maybe that's why mine broke. I just measured it and the thickness was 1". It had lasted for over 15 years. If you have access to thicker granite, I'd be happy to get a piece from you. Send a PM with the price. I'd be happy to pay for your trouble.

yeah Snowah, carrying with can get you a vacation via the "round house"................as you may well know............
I'm so naive I wouldn't know even where to find anything to carry! Besides I have enough border troubles. They don't like the food I bring!

a toast!

Post by Simon of the Playa » Mon Aug 10, 2009 3:08 pm

i would like to make a toast.

today, after 44 years on this earth, i made peace.

I made piece with my father for a mistake i made many years ago, he said he never blamed me anyway.

i made peace with my mother, someone i did not talk to for YEARS.

i made atonement and apologies to old friends and enemies, new friends, new family, old ghosts that have been haunting me for years.

some say you cannot look back.

others say you must always remember.

i say you can do both.

never forget where you come from and where you have been and who you have known.

but in the same very deep breath, do not let these things way you down.

let them go, and keep them close....a paradox it seems...it's not.

this very simple wisdom is available right here, right now, for very very free.

make peace with yourself, find your passion, your calling, and take that motherfucking ball and run with it.....run like your life depends on it, because, in essence it does.

a black sun, where all disappears, a white sun from which everything comes, and a red sun, that beats within.

i am going to make it from the roc to the Rock and back...

and when i return, i will begin again....a new business venture with old friends and new, blood family and my extended family whom i love equally.

the best of both worlds is to skate blindfolded, across the razor's edge, and never worry about falling.

thank you e-playans for allowing me to spill my guts, live, for all to see....

burning man is quite cathartic, isn't it.

i burn every day, from now on...
