ePlaya Back Up!
ePlaya Back Up!
Sorry for the downtime, folks. We had some errant code introduced (still tracking down why) and everything should be fine once again. We'll still be working on the performance issues that have been happening recently. Thanks for your patience, and we can't wait to see you on the playa!

Still unclear, but I'm pretty sure that it wasn't a hack (bot as you say). Replacing the existing code with "old" code fixed it, so we'll be doing some heavy diffing today.wedeliver wrote:Just a question, when you say "errant code introduce" do you mean generated by phpbb or someone managed to drop a bot?

Wow! That's super-technical stuff. Thanks Spanky for being there to help bring back our home. I didn't even know you were hidden away back there. Just goes to show that often we take for granted the work that people put in behind the scenes to make things easier and fun for all of us.
THANKS!!!

And it's usually Tribe that seems to go all buggy on us far too often, Thank the Dogs that it seemed to work fine during this horrible downtime. That, and people seemed to be dropping like flies around these here parts keeping us plenty busy, enough to make my withdrawal somewhat tolerable

Excuse me Ma'am, your going to feel a small prick.

I'm sure it's just a coincidence, but Aug 5 a user requested help with his avatars http://eplaya.burningman.org/viewtopic.php?t=30119 and a symptom after restoration was missing avatars. Did somebody apply a patch or something that was supposed to fix that guy's avatar problem?
You can tell me to shut up - I'm in IT and I HATE it when people who don't have a clue try to suggest answers. But I noticed the coincidence and thought I'd pass it on in case you hadn't.

I think maybe you only restored what is here, in this thread.spanky wrote:Avatars restored.
I'm thinking about using Varnish for caching to help with performance.
Still red X-in-a-box everywhere you look.
I also thank you for doing what you do.....
