Shaded Folding Camp Chairs

Post by geospyder » Thu Aug 13, 2009 12:56 pm

Since I don't have the luxury of hauling up overstuffed furniture I'm settling for a camp chair to place my butt in during the day. I'm tempted to buy one of those folding camp chairs that have a shade structure attached. I think I've seen them at Costco in the $30-40 range. Has anyone had experience with them? Good? Bad?
You know it's going to be a bad day when you jump out of bed and miss the floor.

Crap awful when it is windy, and the shade is never at the right angle.

Try it. I'll try to get a picture of you as the wind tumbles you past my camp. It'll be fun.

Ok but really.. Geo, If you have to go out & buy a chair. Try & find one made with a mesh back & seat. You would be amazed how much cooler they are than regular canvas chairs. I got a couple of them at evil wal mart for approx. $20 ea. :)

Mine's missing, too. I assume they'll get it sorted out eventually.

Spanky says he's trying to fix it but I simply reloaded mine.

I MISS the potatohead! (Although I did laugh a lot when someone kept playing around with it and moving the features around).

Well I'll pretend that I never even asked the question about the shade chair  I have a few papers hanging on the wall so in theory I'm supposed to be educated - in theory. Why I didn't take into consideration the aerodynamics of the chair plus the movement of the sun I'll never know - maybe another senior moment. Guess I’ll stick with my current camp chair. Hmmmm – wonder what my better half would think if I brought the bean bag

Put wheels on and race them.

That's my idea for the transients outside my apartment building.

$20 to 30 is too much for a folding chair You can get them for 12 - 18 bucks cheaper is better the playa and the fellow campers will shorten the life of them. Also a good straw-sun hat is a good thing to keep your mellon cooler!

I've seen the shade chair theory go real bad at Pyramid a couple of weeks ago. That chair might be nearing the Black Rock by now?? Kind of like EZ Up's, they don't do wind real well. Then we'd have to explain the spyder shaped dent in the side of our trailer to Mr. Lost....do we really want to go there?

Check out the Wall of Wrong thread. If thinking about basebal or your mother doesn't work, that thread will deflate it pretty quickly.

I've seen shade chairs work.
I'm guessing they took the shade down in wind.
Having it spring loaded with shock cords might work.

You want everything to flex or never move.

We got two at Smiths in Carson City for like 10 bucks each. They have a mesh drink holder. They're OK but not what you'd think they are.
