Babies are certainly something to celebrate. Especially burner babies - they're special!
Salut and best wishes for a healthy pregnancy, Chasity and Kinetic V!
Pinemom, I hear you on the early entries. I'm just on pins and needles. We've requested 12 because we have to have the newspaper set up and ready to print on Monday. Partially because of all this mucking about we're printing the Gate edition at home, so we're all scurrying around like chickens to get it ready to print (all by email because we're all over the world) PLUS we're packing.
Oh and did you hear the latest. Early entries have to be in by midnight Saturday! Boy, that's a new wrinkle! I have no idea who they plan to have come in on Sunday then - be nice if a concession was made to those 130 camps that didn't get placement but heck, how are you supposed to plan your arrival time!
Back to packing.

yup, it's a tequila kinda day!

I'm leaving home on Monday August 24 around mid-day. My divorce is being finalized in the morning so I'll be hell bent to get on the road to celebrate! I'll have the truck camper packed when I head to the courthouse and leave from there.
Those border guards better be nice to me!

You know it's bad when your mother in law is looking at bike trailers and figuring out ways to keep the dust out and we're wondering how to use some El-Wire in the nursery..... the kid will be hooked on shiny blinky things before he even gets his first teeny tiny sniff of playa dust!
Our due date by the way is Dec 18th, so far. Our midwife said today that we are right on track too!

Sounds like a great new nursery decorating trend to start!Kinetic V wrote:You know it's bad when your mother in law is looking at bike trailers and figuring out ways to keep the dust out and we're wondering how to use some El-Wire in the nursery..... the kid will be hooked on shiny blinky things before he even gets his first teeny tiny sniff of playa dust!

Those bike trailers are great. A little pricey but sometimes you can find one that's not been used much for a good deal. I have one for my granddaughters and I love it.

Safety is relative, i guess. Depends on where you are biking. Whether your city has bike lanes, etc.
My granddaughters are strapped in and have their helmets on and I bought one with the heftier tires. I feel comfortable pulling it while biking.
I'd rather have the trailer than the child safety chair behind me which is at a higher centre of gravity. That always made me feel more likely to tip over for some reason.

We don't really use bikes very much here in America, but in Amsterdam you will see a door open and people will come flying out on their bikes pulling trailers and all sorts of stuff..
They have many ways to get the family around also. I like the rack with the kids in front.

I have a bike seat where my daughter sits in front of me. I had to adjust my handle bars so they wouldn't hit her in the head if the bar spun around, but otherwise it's great. I have long handlebars and she was little.

Here she is on my bike. IMG wouldn't work with tribe images because of the lack of .jpg at the end I think.

You bring up a valid point, Crypto. When I have the granddaughters in the trailer, I tend to stick to the neighbourhood streets only rather than head out to arterial roads. It's a huge weight on the shoulders to take them but life needs to be experienced even for babes.
There is one excellent park that I like to take them to but requires arterial road access. Fortunately there are excellent wide sidewalks and I choose those for getting there. In this case, I always yield to pedestrians because I realize that I shouldn't really be on the sidewalk.
Is anyone else able to get on Tribe? I've tried all day and can't get there.

Good morning folks. I've got that strange feeling in my head like I'm about to get a migraine, just like the kind PM had. I'm hoping it just moves on. Time will tell.
Anyway, as to the bike trailer. Yeah, they could be hit by a car, but so can I on the bike. I used to take my kids in those all the time. You just pay more attention, that's all.

Coffee time!

I guess I'm not going to get it, I just had that strange feeling like it was coming on, but then it faded away. Things here are good. One more week for me, then I am off with my kids for a little getaway, and then straight from that to the burn. Which means I only have one week to finish getting ready. Shouldn't be a problem.

It's going to be alright.

dang headaches........sorry for that.
regarding bikes:
IMHO, it's not only important to pay more attention.........sometimes, you gotta hope the 80 year old, or kid texting, or drunk, just misses you.......
you're taking a chance, so, you just gotta accept that and do what you can......
we're getting a lot of smoke from the wildfire near here......it's really close to Looneytunes place, he can see the trees exploding on the next ridge.......and, there are other burners living over there.......dang.........
supposed to get hotter and windy, to.......
