Newbie iso Theme Camp or Group

Post by lightgraywolf » Mon Aug 17, 2009 6:36 pm

I'd been wanting to attend for years... I'm getting a late start on planning but am super-enthusiastic. All I need is a push... and a purpose! I could go as a solo but being part of a larger group is more my thing. This will be my first Burning Man, but I'm a regular at similar events.

I'm looking for a Theme Camp or like-minded Group to participate, I could even help with set-up if you can get me early entry.

About me:
- Mechanically and electrically inclined (show me a broken generator, I could probably fix it)
- Enjoy construction projects (give me a drill and a hammer and I'm good to go)
- Photographer
- Trad. Irish musician
- Low maintenance, good health, self sufficient
- Not a bad cook either, but I don't plan to spend my whole time cooking

Yeah, I'm posting this really late in the game and I know time is of the essence. If the above sounds like a good match PLEASE contact me on-list or off-list ASAP. Thanks for reading my post!

Hey lgw!~

It's never too late, but don't expect someone cruising these lists to come back and invite you to be part of their theme camp. At this late date most of the camps are pretty well filled...doesn't mean it can't happen, but camps start filling back in March and April.

My rec: show up anyway! You may be solo, but you won't be for long. Wherever you find a spot to camp, you will be surrounded by folks who will surely want to use your talents, if you offer it up...that can be your gift.

Theme camps are fun, but they aren't the end all, be all...it's really about what you bring to the playa in terms of your spirit, work ethic, sharing...all that good shit!

Do it...or just sit in Maryland and stew in the humidity! Been there, done that!
Don't bore your friends with all your troubles. Tell your enemies instead, for they will delight in hearing about them.
