Your Burning Man Traditions?
Since we are all getting down to the final days of preparing for this years burn………do you have any traditions you follow just for Burning Man?
I’ll go first:
1. Purchase a pack of new white socks to be opened and worn for the first time at BM.
2. Buy instant potatoes in a cup that I only eat at BM. I never eat instant potatoes in a cup any other time.
3. Make at least 100 new pieces of jewelry to give away.
So, any Burning Man traditions that you have?

I do the same thing...Ugly Dougly wrote:A walk around the Man (clockwise of course!) as the first thing to do on Arrival.
some others in no particular order...
1) Give up caffeine 2 weeks before departure
2) drink excessively far away from my house and then walk home a few times (starting a month or two before departure)
3) Fresh socks underwear etc all week
4) fresh sheets on the bed at home for return comfort
5) wear pink on burn night (not sure why)
6) shots of rum for breakfast
7) alone time at the temple

HBD 2 me
Every August 30th, I get up just before dawn, ride my bike to the man, photograph the sunrise, ride around taking light and shadow pictures then go for coffee.
(This year I'll have to hurry back to camp, to help get it up and running by Monday. Ack.)
i usually spend all of my money, fuck up my relationships, lose my job, and do dangerous stuff to go to a fucking camping trip in the desert.
same shit every year.
I seem to enjoy get 1 or two tire blow outs on the way there. If that doesn't work, I like my fridge to stop working so I can spend several hours at an RV repair place. It generally takes me two days to do a one day drive. That's the tradition.
Other than that, I go say hi to The Man as soon as I get the camp basics in place.
And I try to bring at least one virgin every year (this year we've got 5) and I take them to say hi to The Man as soon as they get their camp basics in place.

Live as if everyone loves you and thinks you look great. Dance as if no one is watching.

I know there is a Black Bear in Davis, and in Gridley; and I think one is in Redding.
