Deodorant that DOESN'T Melt?

After forgetting my lesson from previous years over and over again, continuing to open up my kit on Tuesday morning to discover a thick shower-fresh-smelling goo carousing among my toothbrush et al, and finally remembering to ask before this year's Burn:

Anyone have experience with a type or brand of deodorant that doesn't melt on the Playa? I'm partial to the solid vs. aerosol, but will happily consider the latter if there are any good ones.

Could be that I usually keep it inside my tent, usually in a black bag. Hmmm: That does sound pretty stupid now that I mention it.

And please...Any hippies who might be reading: I don't wanna hear about it. Be free, be happy, and be smelly. As for me, (and I presume, my campmates), I will appreciate any insight to be found here. Thanks.

Never had a problem... we use invisible dry solids; I use Suave or Lady Speedstick, Larry uses Ban or whatever we have a coupon for. Keep it in a "locker bag" next to the tent, in the shade. No melty-melty. But yeah, use a zip-baggie if you're having that problem.

Use one of the crystals or any variety of powders and pastes that are available.

any mineral salt deodorant. they work wonderfully and wont melt :) it comes in a spray or a crystal "stick"..any health food store will carry it :)

I've found Right Guard Solid to have the opposite problem.. it tends to dry up and not smear on at all.. arm pit rash is a BITCH on the playa.

walgreens, advanced shin therapy lotion.

then wash down with water and reapply to your pits.

rash repelent. use the lotion all over then water. pat dry if needed

a good sun screen will work just as well if your running in the buff..

corn starch around the testies for the bike peddlers.

I use aerosol and have for decades. Can't stand solids, as they schmear the hair in my pits, glue it together, and pull it out when I move my arms; however, solid is _much_ better then roll-ons.

Right Guard spray-on is your bet. You'll be happy with the results.

i think your issue is not the brand but where you're keeping it. i had a stick of Old Spice that never melted. just kept it in a relatively cool area and away from direct sunlight. easy peasy.

Oh man, last year I had left a stick in the vehicle accidentaly and it made a huge mess!

I agree with others, than when placed in my tent's vestibule there was no issue.

I use men's speedstick. Never had a problem with it melting on the playa.

If it melts but is still contained so it doesn't mess everything up, could you still apply it? Not as convenient as when it was solid though. Or keep it upright, and if it melts, it will stay in it's applicator and solidify over the cooler night?

Anybody have any idea if what I'm guessing would work?

Having said that, I'm trying a roll-on. And some alcohol in baby wipes to try to kill all the stinky bacteria at least for 10 minutes. Die you little stinky critters!

Try a roll on or keep your stuff in a cooler, you won't need ice, just the insulation.

Eat lots of garlic. Then you smell like garlic instead of gross body odor. Garlic doesn't melt.

Just for the record, do not apply deoderant to your forehead.

The reduction of sweat is greatly outweighed by the burning of your eyes when it does start to drip.

That makes about as much sense as wearing deoderant or make up to bikram yoga. Your gonna sweat. Its good for you! Its your bodies natural air conditioning.

Even comes in a Roll On. I don't like the salt stick, it just doesn't seem to apply all that well, but the rollon is great. I imagine that the spray works well too, but I haven't been able to find the spray with no fragrance.
