Has anyone seen any UFO's at Burning Man?

Post by lonelyplanetboy » Fri Aug 21, 2009 9:50 pm

Forgive the question if it's stupid, but remember I'm a Burning Man virgin!

Anyway, it's in the middle of a desert, it's in Nevada, it's an expressionist festival, someone's bound to have seen some strange lights in the sky, right?
Sorry if it's a dumb question :P.

Well when a plan flies overhead, I technically can't identify the type or the serial number or what airline it comes from. So I guess that means it's unidentified.

So unless there are no plans flying over burning man I assume at my first burn I will see flying objects I can't identify.

There is to much light to see much of anything in the night sky. I can see the Milky Way from my back yard though.
Who's to say that a suspected "UFO" will be flying at night? During the winter months we get "lenticular clouds" over the Nevada desert that look saucer shaped. They signify a change in the weather and usually occur before a winter storm.

In 1999 on Wednesday night during the event we saw bright green streaks going W>E across the sky. They were UFOs until we found out they were Russian booster rockets reentering the atmosphere.

Tom Stienstra, who writes for the Chron, saw it from Shasta.

I saw about thirty this year that I couldn't identify. No one else around me could identify them either. :(

Ok I was just getting on here to post a similar topic. But I found this thread so I'll post here. Ok burn night when the dust finally cleared Me and a few of the people I was with were looking up at the close to full moon. Happy that the man would be burned soon. My friend pointed out to me a red light moving between some stars. As we focused on this red light it began to come closer to BRC. It stopped at what seemed like a few thousand feet above the man himself. and just hovered there. A few other participants next to us began to point out "what the hell is that". After a minute or 2 the light just disappeared. I would also like to state that I was pretty much sober at this time besides a small amount of whiskey and beer consumption (no psychedelics at this time). By Sunday I couldn't really wrap my brain around what I had seen the night before. On Sunday night we had gone out to the Temple burn. while waiting for the the burn there was the skydiver fire performance. while a lot of burners were looking up at the skydivers I noticed the exact same red light above the skydivers. At first I thought it must have been the airplane until I noticed it wasn't moving. Then the Temple started to burn. I personally was far more focused on this light. I watched this light move in different directions at least 8 times then move across the sky very quickly and disappear again. I noticed that this time It looked like a triangle with a glowing red light in all 3 corners. At that moment I watched it change shape into a red circle. I'm wondering if anybody else got a picture or video of this craft? or if anybody experienced the same thing as me and my freinds?

I saw in 2007 almost the exact same thing with the triangle and the red lights in the corners. moving away then coming together , then flying off. What could it be?

Here is my YouTube video...I'm not claiming that they are spaceships necessarily.. but can anyone tell me what they really are??????

They're kites. I wasn't out at the Temple this year, but I've seen them in past years. The way they move is visually deceptive. Some are lighted, others reflect the ground light and people shine lasers on them. Just way cool reflective kites.

AntiM,

I you may have seen very cool kites (not surprising it's burning man). But I know for a fact what I saw was NOT a kite.

Yes? And why do you say this? The night sky at B-Man is incredibly deceptive.

on the drive up to burning man, completely sober, and somewhere between los angeles and south lake tahoe, while driving, i saw what i at first thought was a plane crashing...large lights coming downwards towards the road, i yelled 'what the fuck', and the lights, first coming straight downward, then swooped across the road, in a very organic way, and the flying object, about the size of three cars, with three round lights on it, glided into a field and out of view. my co-pilot saw it too and we both shared a 'what the fuck?' conversation for the following hours
