I'm sad to say John Corbin has passed.
He was the driveing force behind our regional in hawaii Rebirth and will
be missed by many.

I would like to offer my deepest and most heartfelt condolences to Blender and to the many others who will mourn Jinx's passing. I would prefer to keep my stories about her private, but suffice it to say that I sincerely feel a sense of loss.

Having had the privilege of meeting her face to face on the playa more than once, the image I will always have of her is her smile. And having been on the 3Playa since it began, I know that she's touched so many lives and made impacts that will continue to be felt for a long time to come.

I rarely light candles over here but I did for her, and I have candles lit now to ask for strength for all those who loved her so, that they may be able to move forward in the days ahead. When a light like hers is extinguished...that extra strength is needed....this is not an ordinary passing nor will it be treated as such.

United States Senator Ted Kennedy - 77

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Senator Edward Kennedy, a major figure in the Democratic Party who took the helm of one of America's most fabled political families after two older brothers were assassinated, died late on Tuesday, CNN said. He was 77.

One of the most influential and longest-serving senators in U.S. history -- a liberal standard-bearer who was also known as a consummate congressional dealmaker -- Kennedy had been battling brain cancer, which was diagnosed in May 2008.

Known as "Teddy," he was the brother of President John Kennedy, assassinated in 1963, Senator Robert Kennedy, fatally shot while campaigning for the 1968 Democratic presidential nomination, and Joe Kennedy, a pilot killed in World War Two.

As a Truman Democrat, and despite his shortcomings this was a man that I looked up to and who was an inspiration. He will be missed!

You don't stay in the Senate that long without making enemies both large and small...the poster above would happen to fall into the latter category (Joel, you know I like you, but you came close to getting a double barred electronic blast over that post!). Regardless of how you view the man, his legacy in American politics is not disputable. And if nothing else I give kudos to the man for giving America 40+ years of public service. I seriously doubt if we see another senator make a run like that thanks to term limits and such.

interesting how people overlook the bad on a person they admire..........

I note how those who admire a person, mourn their passing, flaws and all.........as they should.

and, if you don't like someone, declare the joy at their absence..........

But, after all, are they not all "people", can we not say all have good and bad, and, even if we don't agree or even like them, that, we'd not be happy with, or wish, death?

I see it mostly from the left, celebrating the passing of any right wing "celebrity", but, it is across the board.

Ted Kennedy: he did what he thought he should,and, that pleased some...........
but, at least he did something...........

Federal taxes are surprisingly one of the things I rarely gripe about and don't mind paying. It's the local taxes that leave me feeling fleeced.

And while you may not have liked the man, his legislative legacy is one that will not likely ever be trumped. In private he had his failings as we all do. But I still have the utmost respect for the man and if I was in Mass tonight I'd gladly stand in that mile long line just to be able to pay my respects.
