I beg to differ. When we got to Gate last year, they told us 2 of our EA passes had already been used which was impossible unless they had duplicated numbers on passes to different camps. It delayed our entry about 2 hours while they finally figured out that there was a foulup somewhere. I heard later that there were "many" camps who had the same issue. Thanks to Granny who helped us fix it at Greeters by radio. I didn't know where the rest of our group was for about 45 minutes, as I had cleared Gate and continued on without knowing there was a problem behind me.littlewing wrote:This system worked perfectly last year and made things soooo much easier.
A plan is what you vary from.
Destiny Lounge 3D will be at Bradbury and 3:15 this year as a part of the 404: Village Not Found group of camps! Come see us!

I stand corrected. It seems no system is perfect. I'm happy for Mars. It really does seem like there were only about 10 camps effected, and that is roughly 2% so maybe that's a sucess in their books? if fuck ups have been rampant in years before, maybe that's why no one in the Org seems to be concerned. 2% is pretty low.

As I crawl around on top of the bus, lashing poles and such into place for the trip, I too will yell "The sky is falling" ofr our beloved Terminal City.
And then I will mount the chainsaws and cattle guard to the front end for the assault on the gate that happens Friday.

Hey Peeps,
Thought i'd pass this info on...
I just got a call from someone at the bm office in gerlach...she was returning calls left on the answering machine in s.f....I had left a msg., even though it said they wouldn't be returning calls until after the burn...so if you're in a serious stuck place, it might help to leave them a msg. at the office.

So, would it do any good to call-- that is the question.... what did she return the call for?
Naw, never mind.
I'm beat. This has been a bit too much. Now I have car troubles and I learned just now my dog of 12 years is dying.
So, anyone got a fucking meteor they wanna throw at me?

Just received this in my email...
By now everyone should have REALLY received their early arrival passes,
but there are always a few kinks that we will have to resolve on-playa.
We apologize for the stress and inconvenience that some of you
experienced due to technical difficulties. Of course we were sweating
bullets
and losing sleep right along with you. Our process has grown fast
and hard over the past few years, and since Burning Man only happens
once
a year, it is challenging to make sure all systems are ready to perform
when the time comes. As frustrating as this process has been this year,
it sure beats the ridiculous list of names we employed at our Gate a few
years back.
This year avoided having bar codes be blocked by spam filtering by
trickling them in one-by-one instead of sending everything all at once.
We achieved our goal, but also experienced an unexpected technical
hiccup
that caused some barcodes to not initially make it to their final
destination.
In the end, the best way to find out who missed them was to ask you to
let us know.
The Placer volunteers and Burning Man staff members worked very hard
to get the missing
passes out as soon as possible. Thank you for your support and
understanding.
It has been another year for learning. We hope this problem has been
corrected for the future.
Lets move on and have a great event!
All props to the EA all-nighters crew: Entropy, Rodney, & Sweetthang

True, our 8 theme camps of our village have not recieved them.
I sent a reply to placemenet@ with a copy of the August 17 email from our placer that confirmed our early passes were aproved and were coming.
