EARLY ARRIVALS

Talk about last minute. Yikes.

It was nice disbanding our village and just having each camp register individually and just request placement next to another camp.

Luckly we all ended up together, all got the requested early arrival passes, and none of us had any hassles having to deal with all the complaints from any of the camps about the size of the camp, number of passes, etc.--plus, because each camp was placed individually, we got better placement than we ever have registering as a village.

It's just not right Kernul... something is definitely broken! I'd send Shadow another email or two and see if this can't get fixed!!!

When I've tried to contact her, I get somebody else answering her emails.

It has not worked.

I've sent a message to placement - no reply.

Look folks, I'm through here. Ive tried and tried. We did it all right and correct. We were approved, we have it in writing.

But we fell off the table somehow.

I'm never going to do this again- period.

As to the previous?

I had recived a small number by mid last week- but only a handful.

I had not yet downloaded them onto my PC--

It turns out my Outlook Exp program had a soft crash early this week. I lost the contents of several folders, and many of my address contacts. I had to reload.

I also lost a folder with some pretty critical work correspondance too.

Oh, and yes, I did contact some savvy tech guys already.

Just checking here to see how things are going.

Is Terminal Village the only ones on the outside looking in?

The Black Rock Beacon team received ours yesterday, not sure if that gives anyone hope. I'm heading out tomorrow to start the 2500 mile drive. Hope to be in Winnemucca on Thursday to pick up some art then onto Reno on Friday to drop off my passenger whose going in with campmates. Depending on how it goes I'll be in either late Friday or early Saturday.

I'm hoping and praying for you guys to get your passes.

I really hope Terminal City gets in EA and gets setup, otherwise your vulnerable underbelly will be exposed and some barbarians will over run your camp, take your woman, make you crawl around on a leash... That would be tragic!

In 2005, 2006 and 2007, we had next door camps robbing space while our whole set up crew was there!!!! So what's to stop them when there's less or none of us?

as to ur other point... as long as the woman I'm thinking of gets in Monday, I'll be happy to crawl around on a leash.

But that's beside the point!!

BTW Kernul, you are not alone, I still have not gotten all our passes, none of our emails to Shadow have been answered. So you are not alone.
We have told half of our crew to stay home and come on Monday. Due to the sharing rides/gas/driving, some of our peeps will be camping in D Lot until Monday.
I had to laugh at the last placement email with a whole entry about the BRCPO, knowing that they didn't get enough passes to build their camp. What a huge disconnect.
Their last word to us is to move on and have a good burn. Do they really not know how much anxiety they have caused? Or do they just not give a shit?

Yup. we got our passes at the last minute too and yes, we were shaking our heads at the last post about us as well. Go figure. I can't make heads or tails of the mess and I'm guessing they can't either.

We have two folks that bailed on us in the chaos of the last minute and headed for another camp that did get their passes. Now they're committed elsewhere. Hence we have two extra passes for Tuesday but short the workers we need. We will be looking for a couple of folks stuck at the gate who are desperate to place early but willing to help us with set up. I've been watching this thread, if any of you are still in that boat maybe we could connect. We leave this morning but I will be checking the internet later today when we hit K Falls.

Camp Aftermath finally got our passes all at once so thankfully we can stop being terrified. I wish the best for anyone that's still waiting - check your email, check your spam (carefully) and maybe the nightmare is already over for you as well.

I'm so glad to hear the passes started coming!! This has been a real sore spot for so many people when we should all be focusing on other things. I know, we got all of ours early on so what do I care, right? I'd much rather have a good feeling about Early Passes than guilt at having received all of ours for no apparent good reason while other, far longer standing camps have been left out in the cold. The whole thing made no sense. So its good news all around (I hope!) We leave LA tomorrow!!! Yikes!!!

Well, BBD, even if you are not the one this year, you could be the one next year...let's all volunteer and/or campaign for early arrival passes to come within a week of theme camp acceptance so that this does not happen again.

While probably completely obvious, be sure to check the serial numbers on the passes to make sure you weren't just issued the same pass twice. That would be even more drama. Our camp was fortunate enough to ask for 5 passes and get 5 a couple of weeks ago but I found this thread to be interesting to follow. I wish everyone the best of luck.

If it helps take the edge off the problems, I always tell my friends to write down the worst thing that happens to them preparing for the burn and put it on their desk before they leave. When you come back it is fun to see how it really didn't ruin the week, if you remember the problem at all.
