I suck real bad at forums...

Post by lonelyplanetboy » Mon Aug 24, 2009 3:48 am

WHY!? I always, no matter what forum I wind up on, end up coming off as a dick, even though I'm not in real life. I need serious forum users to teach me what the hell I'm doing wrong....PLEASE!

First off, don't start a bunch of pointless threads.

Breathe. Just chill and maybe do more reading than writing for now. Go look at some pretty pics. Read the survival guide - again. Start making connections with local burners. Find out what a regional burn is and where the closest one is to you. Make some art. Read the Bar thread from page 1. Burn your art and start over. Make a pact with yourself that you'll never start another pointless thread. Remind yourself that it's just a fucking camping trip. In short, less talk, more action.

And no whining.

Thank you, THAT'S what I needed. Now I wouldn't be surprised or annoyed if someone deleted this thread, it's pointless and it's had it's run. Thanks Sensei.

You "suck real bad at forums"?

Why not try sucking something else?

Just trying to help.

I'll say it again loonlyplanetboy, get off the computer and go outside and play. It don't feel right all the posting you are doing. I don't care if it is the middle of winter, the night or there is 10feet of snow on the ground. You won't build a strong body typing to a bunch of people, most old enough to be your parents and a lot of us could be your grandparents.

You sound real smart and if you weren't 14...but you are 14, stop acting like a child. grow up. Get a real life.

This might sound harsh, but it's a form of tough love.

If you have questions about art, or the desert, or this camping trip you might find answers if you search, but as far as you "SUCK REAL BAD AT FORUMS" you have become a troll and, PLONK!

(come back next year when you arn't a pain in the ass, now go PLAY OUTSIDE with you) (you wil lneed very strong muskles to build great art in the desert, and right now only your fingers are getting any exercise)

It's easy to dash off a bunch of thoughts on the computer without thinking of the consequences.

Instead: Pretend you are hanging out with your coolest buddies - and you are! What would you say to their faces?

This is GREAT advice.

LPB, I looked back at some of your posts. You don't sound like a dick, you sound like a puppy. Many (if not most) of the regulars here are older than 45 - myself included - and your puppy energy can be - wearing. You're doing pretty well here for a kid (assuming you're really 14). But puppies get cuffed by their elders sometimes, don't take it personally. I think you'll have more fun on this board if you try to channel your mature self. Don't be afraid to let your inner puppy run once in awhile, just don't be surprised if you get smacked back a time or three. And when you get to the REAL playa, let all your selves come out to play.

it may just take practice. And this board is held together by spit, *chime* community (drink), and snark. And most of us are older, slier, and have the vast reservoirs of decades of experience behind us. And everybody gets the once, twice or more-over when they enter this board. No one's called you a troll--or at least no one in my world--I have some personages plonked as a courtesy to the board. So, don't fuss so much. A place here is earned.
