what do people do during the day?

I am new to this and was wondering what people do durng the day. This may seem like a stupid question but I want to make the most out of my first BM experience.

I can't speak for all the people, but in the day Da Mule generally:
- leaves camp in an effort to wander around looking at art, carrying pack that has all types of goodies - such as water (lots of it/may bring camelback), chapstick, sunblock, small snack
- smells bacon at a camp, waves, drools, gets invited in
- hang out at mystery camp for a few hours belly full of bacon, enjoying their shade
- makes a visit to porta potties (uses ONE ply paper)
- checks out the AWWW (alternative What, When, Who, Where guide) as so many camps weren't placed it will be necessary to find folks
- makes an effort to go to a particular place
- checks out a couple of cool art projects
- notices girls jumping on the trampoline
- notices bench in shade across from trampoline, settles down for a nap
- Hey is it sunset already?

It depends on where you are staying, if you are in one of the hotels/motels, people usually lay around the pool all day or rehearse for the nights events. Some people like to hike in the wilderness, although you gotta wear good boots cause of the snakes. If you can get over to the beach, it is wonderful, 20 degrees cooler. A lot of people live close by and they usually go home for meals and stuff. If you are staying in a tent, you have to stay in the tent area all day, its the rules.

Here's the problem: What do you mean "during the day"?

It's a 24-hour-a-day, 7-day-a-week party. "During the day" has no meaning. None.

I try to get a nap in during the hottest part of the day. Count on four hours of snoozing and general lazy behavior.

I guess I can pretty much fill up my daily and nightly dance card. Now I just need to figure out when to find time to poop and do my yoga- aw screw it, Drinking will replace yoga! :)

After one day, you'll understand why so many people call the Playa 'home'. You'll only feel "in over your head" for the first day or so. By Friday, you'll be looking at all the latecomers, saying "Yo, fool! What are you doing at MY Burn?"

during the day I:

do a moop patrol through my camp
eat chilled tasty food and drink too much gin and tonic
volunteer
take a tour out in the open playa to see the art
BS with my camp mates
attempt not to have to use the blue room sauna during the prime heat
soak my feet in drained cooler water then trade pedicures
nap a little

ride around, look around at all the killer art you can, find a friendly bar that has comfy seats and nice shade to have a cold one and chill out, take a nap or 2, hope for a dust storm, walk around with a little dust broom dustinh people off, go jump on a trampoline, find something high to get on and sit and watch the city and the people move and change, go back to camp eat at some point in the day(most days), think of damn its gettin dark time to go stock up the back pack with goodies and change in to somethin new and get ready for the night

Attempt to sleep before it gets to hot
Decide well sleep isnt happening
Help clean up the bar
Sit around staring at the ground & campmates for a bit

Sleep in as long as possible. Sometimes woken up by someone saying, "hey wake up there is a cute russian girl out here who needs her bike fixed."
Fix her bike, give her a bumper sticker and wave bye.
Make trip to JOTS
Have breakfast.
Find sunglasses.
Go see what is happening in group shade.
Somebody needing a repair stops bye group shade and I go help them.
Then the repairs start pouring in and I work to complete them and hand out tools to those that can take care of their own.
There is a lull.
Drink a liter of water and get another one out because I have not drank enough water today.
Make another trip to JOTS.
People are waiting when I get back so I weld on some bike contraptions and fix some other things.
I get irritable and notice that I am dehydrated again.
Drink another liter of water and chill for a little.
Check my mail box and put the beer that I find in there in the cooler while grabbing a cool Pabst or Tecate.
Close the shop by abandoning it and go check out what people in the group shade are doing.
Walk to the JOTS and come back with a pocket full of moop.
Realize I skipped lunch.
Scream "WWOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooo!!!!!!!" as the sun goes behind the mountains.
Make dinner, take a shower and go bike or hike.
